There's the story and pics of a McDonalds burger(just bread and meat) and fries being stored in a baggy for up to 14-16 years or so and looking perfectly normal still. That doesn't mean it's edible.
Okay, well since it's up to 16 years we're talking about, then a 3-year-old burger would probably be okay to eat.. strangely enough.
That's the thing about MRE's in the US Military. They're almost all pretty good, but when a bunch of people are cracking them open, it's like opening a pack of Pokemon cards. What you get? This, what about you? Hey wanna trade?
Okay, that sounds pretty damn fun. But I'm just a civilian with way too little guts to ever sign up (and no one's shaving these flowing locks, thank you very much.)
Okay, well since it's up to 16 years we're talking about, then a 3-year-old burger would probably be okay to eat.. strangely enough.
One thing I've learned is that the standard $1 double-cheeseburgers reheat fairly well in a microwave when stored overnight. They still taste pretty good and don't get all mushy or anything. Of course, there's probably more chemicals and artificial stuff than organic matter in those things, but yeah.
I wonder if the secret is 100lbs of sodium and other preservatives. I mean, McDonalds fries can probably last a few years too, they've been doing it for decades :v:
The tomatoes you grow haven't been refrigerated at any point, are ripened properly, and are fresh. The organic part plays effectively zero part in it. To the contrary, in fact. Penn and Teller performed a test of organic vs non organic tomatoes in a single blind test.
Where did they find these people, I know several vegans, and vegetarians but these guys are just wackos.
I think this is pretty awesome, I think it is ridiculous that some of you guys are assuming that because they made some small tweaks that the pizza is somehow awful for you. Probably way better than most of the other meal options.
Jesus, this mindset is why we are still ruining the environment with organic crops.
It depends on the scale really, organic gardens on a small scale like a backyard plot can be a net positive. I do agree that people need to realize that GMOs are not inherently bad for you. If people would use some of the strategies that are associated with "organic farming" and pair them with GMOs it would be better for everyone. Those strategies being better crop rotation, keeping livestock and plants close enough to reduce waste, cycling plot use, etc.
Yum, extra chemicals please.
I only eat food made from exotic matter with imaginary mass.
I dont see why people hate on MREs so much. They're tons better than the DFAC food ive had (known as DA-FUCK) [sp] the struggle is real [/sp]
I once found a pizza on a shelf what was out of date by 3 years. i cooked it and ate it and it was fine
Ive allways wanted to try a MRE, does anyone know how to buy a single MRE in the uk?
Watch as it tastes horrible, as per the MRE standard.
anything tastes better than the sloppy joes
I once found a pizza on a shelf what was out of date by 3 years. i cooked it and ate it and it was fine
Frozen pizza, right? This is room temp for that period of time, precooked and with the only heating by a chemical packet that reacts with water that only brings it up to vaguely warm. That makes it much harder to hold the ingredients together and keep it from going moldy.
Wasn't there this more or less bullshit story about McDonald's burgers sitting in their wrappers for a long time and nothing happened?

I dont see why people hate on MREs so much. They're tons better than the DFAC food ive had (known as DA-FUCK) [sp] the struggle is real [/sp]
Oh come onnnnn. The DFAC in San Antonio wasn't that bad haha.
Oh come onnnnn. The DFAC in San Antonio wasn't that bad haha.
If you're on the first deck it isn't. It's gotten better now that we "super fleet" march the whole friggin barracks there at once (we literally, force the army off the grinders and out of the DFAC.) Now they're forced to cook more food, quicker, so it doesn't lay around as long and get cold and hard. That still doesn't mean, you dont get milk that is is brown, and tastes like muddy water from the milk dispenser. Now great lakes food.... 5 star eating right there.
Incredibly, the pizza doesn't require any refrigeration or freezing.
First the internet and now this. The military sure does some good sometimes.
sensationally cheesy
how the fuck do organic crops taste better
They taste better because I fertilize the field with my own semen, it's a big job but thankfully years of isolation with internet access has trained me to become a grandmaster masturbationist.
that is literally placebo
Hell no it isn't, my home-grown crops taste way the hell better than store-bought or from those organic stores. I'm not the only one either, everyone else that's tried my vegetables agrees that I am good at being a farmer. If only they knew about the secret ingredient.

My Uncle would of loved this in the 80s back when he was in the Army.
Hey, this project was completed. Unlike the OICW, Comanche, Crusader, F-35, etc etc. And this one doesn't even kill people as a bonus. Okay it might, but the food poisoning deaths will be unintentional.
At least the XM29 OICW was not a complete failure, the airburst grenade system used in it became the XM25 CDTE which was used in the war in Afghanistan between 2010-2013 and was really effective.
