Maybe the games are just recompiled by the developers or something?
Surely you can't just recompile for a different CPU that easily? Maybe Microsoft made a really good emulator :/

So we are not talking about recompiling.
I'm sure this list is far from complete, but it's pretty funny regardless: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/backward-compatibility/available-games Why even put this up before they have more games to show there :v:
Can't wait for all the games that no one wanted to play on the 360 be made available, gotta get that remake cash after all.
I wonder what kind of bullshit Microsoft will show at the PC conference tomorrow.

They've confirmed in the FAQ that people playing on the One can still join MP with 360 players, including parties and stuff. The 360 guide will be present in games, presumably the enabler of all the cross platform stuff.
Very exciting. I hope their catalogue builds enough for it to be worth it.

Did you seriously have to put "BREAKING?"
when compatiblity launches they will make it 100% BC for the entire library preview members get to try it out now
Not what the article says:
Much like the Xbox 360's limited support for the first Xbox's games, more 360 games will be added to the backward compatibility list over time—and there's no guarantee that a favorite 360 game will ever be brought forward to work on Xbox One.
But apparently it will be 100+ games on launch.
Did you seriously have to put "BREAKING?"
Does it seriously matter?
That fucking timing, just when I sold every single one of my old 360 games. I'm already starting to miss Dead Rising.
They are going to need to put bigger hard drives on the Xbox One wow
They confirmed earlier that it's actually an emulated 360. I'm guessing the use of the word "native" in their presentation was to differentiate it from Sony's method, which is to stream gameplay for a fee. Having it run on the console is still great though. Geometry Wars and Hexic HD both work as you'd expect, and the speed of the 360 guide is ridiculously awesome. It actually cuts some menu sounds short because they were designed around it running slow on the 360.
They are going to need to put bigger hard drives on the Xbox One wow
Well there's a 1TB model around now and you can very easily expand its storage.
i crave that ssx 2012/skate 3
There must be some sort of consultation with the game devs though because what happens if they're planning to release a remaster of that game.
the remaster will still look and function great compared to the aging original? [editline]e[/editline] if it isn't that much of an upgrade from the original they deserve to be run into the ground for trying to pull a remaster too early
xbox originals on 360 had huge issues because of the controller reformation (the removal of the black and white dots) doubt doubt doubt it'd be that'd compatible but i was looking at consoles to buy when i got the money and i got a fuck load of 360 games so tbh if the catalogue expands, then there's no point in getting a PS4
Xbox originals #1 problem was that they were mostly slower than just putting the game in your original xbox. In fact I RROD'd my 360 with Fable: TLC

Though I could see many devs not giving enough of a damn to make a decent compatibility mode. Especially for older games that are no longer sold.

All the publisher has to do is say "yeah you can release it".
This is actually really really cool. Didn't expect it.
I read from their site and i'm sure on the video they showed, you can record, screenshot and stream your 360 games too
This would had been more useful at the start of the Xbox One's life cycle. I knew there was a catch somewhere.
However will the games be actually rendered in 1080i or will they be stuck at 720?
why would games from the 360 go from 720p to 1080i? they'll probably stay at 720.

They don't look too bad, it's basically just like playing the 360 game on the same screen.
