I never really liked Bond movies. They always seemed way too formulaic for me, the only thing that changed was the setting and the badguy's name 1. James bon is a badass, intro shows him doing BAMF stuff, sort of a prelude to what we're about to see in the movie. 2. Credits roll, hot chicks dancing, catchy song 3. Mi6 tells bond "Yo theres a badguy you gotta kill him" 4. Depending on the movie, sometimes he's like "no way Jose" for whatever reason 5. Bond works together with some hot chick 6. Bond infiltrates secret lair 7. oh no holy shit the hot chick was a double agent who fucking knew 8. Bond kills the hot double agent and defeats the badguy 9. The end
Suprised to see some blacklash towards Skyfall in this thread. That film owned hard imho.
Skyfall is good but it's too much of a departure from the grittiness and realism of QoS and Casino Royale. That and you can tear its plot apart like cheese slices.
How do you guys feel about Craig's Bond and the films overall? I love Craig's take on Bond. I was never fond of the old films and how they made Bond into a rather two-dimensional male power fantasy stereotype (yeah, I know that's his whole shtick, but still) . I don't remember Bond ever having any weaknesses in the older films. Craig's Bond is every bit as confident as the past ones, but his flaws are real and apparent. It just makes his daring and boldness seem more impressive because you know he isn't invincible. I can understand why fans of the old films wouldn't like these ones though. The goofiness, ridiculous gadgets, and cheesy plots of the old films are probably why they find them so charming, and the newer films don't really have any of that.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/10/22/spectre-review But IGN gave it a 7.2 because it's too long, so clearly it's shit
You mean the same people who marked down the Pokemon ruby and sapphire remakes because "too much water?" Right, the cornerstone of reliability. Remember, can't spell ignorant without IGN. :v:

Both were great actors as well, not to be said about the guy from Quantum of Solace
Bit of topic but Silva's cyanide reveal was totally shocking and unexpected. Creeped me out. I thought Skyfall was pretty good, but honestly I kinda hate villains that just seem to expect and know everything. It just feels manufactured to me, which it is (it's a movie afterall), but it takes me out of the movie.

But Raoul seemed to be a regular MI6 agent. On the other hand, the plot armor he wore was for the fact he was a cyber hacker and could trace anyone with a few random slams on the keyboard. That said, his acting and the way he acted insane/feeling let down by M was just superb.

Then you can very easily make characters out to be very intelligent but in fact it just kinda smells of lazy writing to me. That's just my personal opinion, though, and it's not like it ruins a movie or a series for me singlehandedly.
Spectre seems to just be getting average reviews on metacritic so far.

Bond villains tend to be interesting but one movie is really not enough to properly flesh out these characters.

I'm not saying James Bond villains were better back in the day, just saying that I wish these characters were written differently. It's not just villains, though, just look at the Sherlock Holmes series.
