Are you talking about the Pokemon themselves or the countries they take place in?
Cause in the real world living in those places would be hell. Growing up with no education and getting kicked out of your house at the age of 10, with only the shirt on your back. No meat since pokemon are the only animals and nobody eats pokemon, if you get hurt or sick you better have a friend who knows first aid, cause all the hospitals in the entire country are devoted to healing your Pokemon. And don't expect to get any food, water, or any other essentials from the store, they only sell stuff for your pokemon.
Just the Pokemon themselves.
I knew Ive seen Avatar before.

Christ, Cameron has already said he used other fiction as inspiration, such as the stories that inspired Dances with Wolves...
Oh look, here's one such interview.
Pandora is a shithole and the Navi are violent savages.
And I am sick and tired of all these fictional languages with apostrophes all over the shop. SORT YOUR SHIT OUT GUYS
It was created by a professor of linguistics, Paul R. Frommer. I think he knows a little more about language than you.

Maybe he does, but he's shit at aesthetics.

.
No I don't like those either. They're far too removed from any other living Earth languages; they feel fake.

And all the people have stupid names like Greanlaop or Hungtrafir or some shit like that. If I ever wrote a fantasy people would have simple names. Elvess and Dwarfs would have similar names (think Peter/Pierre or Ernest/Ernst), and languages would be similar to modern Earth ones (after all, lots of words came from onomatopoeiaraeiorey, so it doesn't make sense if the Elfish for splash is 'uvavu' or some shit like that.
Tolkien's languages are mostly based on Old English and a lot of other Germanic languages.
It's just nothing like English, and he uses his own characters and runes.
Am I the only person who was depressed when the humans lost? I was rooting for them (US) the whole time. When Quaritch said "how does it feel to betray your race?" he was painted like a selfish monster, but in reality, sully was betraying all of humanity and not just the violent mercenaries.

You're forgetting the context.
The Earth where he had lived, the Company he worked for.
When he got to Pandora he was free in ways he'd never imagined.
So yeah, I'd betray humanity for all that.
The way I see it, if there's a way out of the human race; take it.

And it looks and sounds shit.
I don't think you understood the joke. Afrikaans is a real language that uses the so called "ridiculous" structures that are parallel to the apostrophe-riddled alien languages.
Jou ma se fokken poes, naai.
:v:
Have some Afrikaans, bro. :banjo:
And it looks and sounds shit.
Is there anything that doesn't look and sound like shit, then?
Quenya is a great conlang. I didn't really like Na'vi though. It didn't really sound like an alien language.

Come on dude she is really hot. Don't pretend you've ever even been within a hundred feet of hotness like that.
Fixed.

She looked way better as a Na'vi. :smug:
Man, if I could relinquish my humanity to be a free blue, alien, Na'vi dude, I would. Hundred and five percent adamant on my decision. Which is final.

Oh god, when she said 'You're not the only one with a gun, bitch.' in her hot-ass voice...
Star Wars isn't real, I'll go into that corner and stab myself.

Yeah, but set on another planet. Pocahontas 3: James Cameron Shits On The Movie.
And you can't really copyright something that is a real legend. Maybe.

I just liked the glass.
I felt the same way after seeing a program about how we could get to Mars within 50 years.

You just don't like a woman that you can't take in a fight.
Well if you're depressed that Earth sucks get off your ass and plant a damn tree.
My sister tried learning the Na'Vi language :L
And let me guess, she quit when she started hearing terms like "noun classes," "grammatical class syntax," and "lenition."
I didn't like Avatar because I saw it years ago...'Dances With Wolves' anyone?

Na'vi are American Indians, and the humans are the Settlers who invade it.
So it's okay for Wizard Of Oz references can be used, but it seems it's not okay for Poke-her-hontas to be used, even so it's based on a true legend. Yeah right.

The movie became popular, so people hate it now to try and be "non-conformist"
