Go to the Congo, man. Looks just like Pandora. They don't have pretty five legged horses, but they DO have angry gorillas. :v:
These people need to get out of their goddamn dirty houses and go to a park or something, or better yet, do some travelling. There are places on our Earth which are so beautiful you don't believe they're real.
Theses places will be destroyed soon. [editline]06:55PM[/editline]
oh no i'm so sad my shitty native american allegories don't exist :saddowns:
They got murdered by americans.
We need a big facepalm here. Also why the hell would you want to live on Pandora anyway? You'd have to give up all the comforts (like electricity) we have over here.
I blame the fact that the movie came out when everything is gray and dead in the Northern part of the world. [editline]01:05PM[/editline]
We need a big facepalm here.
Basement dwellers.
My initial thoughts upon reading the thread. But hey, big universe we live in, chances are out of the billions of planets that inhabit the thing, one of them's probably going to be like Pandora right? Of course chances are no one from our generation is going to visit it, hell we can barely see into our own solar system.
It'll be GREAT natural selection, and we won't have to do a thing!
Is there any other kind?
:sigh: http://community.livejournal.com/tothehometree/633.html?thread=4473 "Na'vi otherkin" The faggotification of Avatar has begun/already started

I'm a contherianthrope, bipedal wolf and manta ray. These are conclusions I have come to after years of tormenting myself, soulsearching and seeking the guidance of others. Why do we identify with the Na'Vi? Because human nature isn't originally intended for living differently than they do. We're supposed to live in communities, with nature, hunting only exactly what we need and respecting the environment around us. Or, well, currently we're a plague species that destroys its' environment but you get the point. We create movies like this because we feel an innate need to reconnect, which doesn't happen by watching something on a screen. If you want to reconnect, live on a farm - learn to hunt with a bow, don't pretend you're something you're not. I'm sad to see what people do.
You tell them, bipedal wolf manta ray! [editline]08:23PM[/editline]
I'm not about to commit suicide or anything, but the movie did leave me feeling pretty sad. The world of Pandora IS beautiful, everything about it. The way the Na'vi are so "spiritually" linked to the planet and each other. It's a movie about a deep, rich community and an intimate connection with everyone and everything. The idea that every creature on Pandora could actually link bodies and minds and even link with the giant brain and goddess that is the planet itself. It really is so beautiful, and a reminder of how alone we really our in these human bodies. The Na'vi could literally become one, allowing each other to feel their minds and bodies in the most intimate way. Human love is nothing by comparison. And obviously the movie isn't real etc, but the IDEA is real. It's something we can comprehend, yet we are incapable of ever truly feeling. And, the Na'vi experience a real and beautiful afterlife.

i felt the same way after I watched Fargo
Fargo wasn't real?
What fucking idiots. It's a bloody film, for God's sake. Although, the planet really was beautiful.
I had suicidal thoughts of shame when I realized I think Neytiri was hot.
:cawg:
Fargo wasn't real?
It was based on a true story. But I assume it was very loose seen as it was the Coen Brothers who wrote it :v:
I'm sure a place like Pandora exists somewhere in the universe.
Well, Judging that there's over 500 million galaxies in the universe, and each one of these galaxies has 50-900 billion stars, each one of these stars most likely have 1 or more planets, there's no doubt that there's a planet or even dozens like Pandora out there. It's just sad how people now days don't pay attention to how big our universe is, and that the chances of anything out there are almost endless.

Can't blame them, I'm sad because I've finished season 4 of Battlestar Galactica.
I was a bit sad when it ended, it's normal to feel wistful about something intangible, these people are just feeling it a bit more. If someone tells you a vision of times past, of warm summer days where you had picnics and played in the field and everything was great, the war was over and your only responsibility was to love life. Tell me none of you can at least sense the pain any kind of wistfulness gives you. In this case, it's not the past but a fantasised and well realised environment, I won't hear a word against this being a problem with anyone, it's a little odd I'll grant, but not unhealthy, for the most part. [editline]09:17PM[/editline]
I'm sure a place like Pandora exists somewhere in the universe.
To the people who rated boxes and crosses, I suggest you check your statistical tables, and realise that just about every possibility is a reality, depending on whose physical model you choose to use. Nothing wrong with it being impossible to reach, but it can still exist.
I was actually satisfied that the movie finally ended cause I needed to piss real bad.
All I can say to this: What the fuck? Avatar is going to end up developing a crazy cultist following just like anime and furries :ohdear: Pandora wasn't even that impressive of a fantasy world. All SPESSIAL EFFECTZZZ and shit, not that much culture or worldbuilding. Middle-earth was better (but then again books don't have CUTTING EDGE SPECIAL EFFECTS)...
Middle-Earth IMO was good but Pandora seems so... real. I can't describe it.
Only movie that really got me rather sad was Forrest Gump. [sp]BUBBA! :crying:[/sp]
Jeez, come on, Earth ain't that bad.
Wouldn't if be just as fun to live in a rainforest?
Let's ask the Amerindians! "Hey, can we come to your house? It's kinda crappy here."
Jeez, come on, Earth ain't that bad.
We're not saying it is bad.
To me Avatar was just cool effects and badass mechs/generals. It was a gorgeous movie but from an acting/story perspective it sucked.
somehow i think the people that made the posts stating their depression are actually just trolling

I was never sad during the movie. I had everything I wanted; 3D glasses, explosions on screen, and four bags of candy I smuggled into the movie.
They can visit AND be suicidal, everyone seems to forget about the deadly nerve-gas like atmosphere.
Universe is expanding though infinite "space". Chances say that Pandora exists.
Also I wouldn't really want to live there because chances are you would be dead within the week. "The most dangerous environment known to man," as the movie puts it.
