Old people with the fingers on power + Technology they don't understand = This bullshit
I'm saddened that people think that just because somebody uses a torrent as a medium of downloading, they're instantly a pirate. Hey, I'm downloading an indie movie that's free. That's fine. Oh, I can only download it via torrents. That's it, I hope you rot criminal scum! Besides, I usually get faster download speeds with torrents than regular downloads.

Oh baby put it all in my torrent.
P2P =/= Torrent
BT is a P2P protocol. Torrent sites are also not warehouses just for warez. You know, DMCA fair use allows you to have a backup copy. The only thing you do thats illegal when you download from a torrent site, is when you download it without actually owning a copy in the first place.
Why is everyone in this thread acting like torrent trackers are only be used for lawful content Hell, the only reason their hosters even go to court is because they allow people to search for illegal content. No one cares about the Linux distros. No one's going to shut down a tracker that only hosts legal torrents. [editline]2nd June 2011[/editline] Regardless of the site's name
Gentlemen. I have come to a conclusion. :raise: Fuck them.
Just owning a domain with torrent in it? I think we should start purchasing domains with torrent in it, and using them to redirect to anti-piracy suites. How ludacris that anyone using the word "torrent" (Which has meanings other than a bitTorrent file) is a criminal.
in other news team fortress 2 gets banned in 12 countries because it includes an anagram of the word "torrent"
So you managed to find a secret N in the words team fortress two?
Why don't they shut down google then? That allow people to search for much worse stuff than musik torrents.
Google regularly gets requests to omit search results. They're usually not ordered to do so by any court because, 1. they have a lot of money and are more powerful than many courts and probably even more powerful than some nations, 2. the legitimate use of Google is very commonplace compared to torrents.

I'm pretty sure digital copyright laws are doing more harm than good.

It's like saying guns were made for terrorists. Sure a lot of terrorist use firearms, but firearms are also used against said terrorists and for hunting.
But sharing is caring.
But sharing is caring.
I wonder how long until the RIAA lobbies kindergarten teachers to stop teaching that didn't they already manage to get intellectual property propaganda into some middle schools or something
