It's like he never searched a famous ficitional character on Google or deviantART, how did he could not know that this was inevitable?
He spents years creating the perfect companion, all for some pervert on deviantart to draw porn of her and call her his waifu.
He spent years creating the perfect companion, or at least trying to, all for many people to love the game. A few of those people then did what they've done to a vast majority of other female characters in games, and many male as well.
I can understand loving a character you wrote, and not wanting to see her ruined, but Levine is hardly the first to have this happen to his characters. There is no reason to expect anything more from the internet.

Yeah he shouldn't be surprised, and he should kind of get over it because it won't change. But I fail to see why he can't express his disappointment about it.
He needs to suck it up and deal with it
also wow just deviantart? Oh man he's really missing the bulk of the stuff that would probably make him burst a blood vessel, y'nkow, the stuff that actually uses the ingame model
well
deviant"(autism)"ART is filled with sick fucks that post horrible things
so its nothing special that he got freaked out
Its just drawing porn. It can't possibly exploit women.
It's not that. It's just that it was god damn annoying.
really amusing considering how elizabeth was more fanservicey(much larger breasts and cleavage) before, and actually caused complaints, which resulted in it being toned down a bit, ironymeter broke. and if i'm not mistaken there also a previous version from before e3 in which it had slightly more fanservice too.
before E3 version

To the people saying "get over it," you can't really understand his perspective. It's his character, he had a hand in creating it, and then he sees people take the artistic integrity, and shit all over it, turning it into porn. Should he be surprised? Fuck no. But to say "it's a fictional character, get over it" is a bit inconsiderate.

It's the internet. You can find porn of toasters with ease. Of course creating a female character in a game who's main audience is a bunch of teenage boys and young adults is going to spawn a bit of porn around that character. Fair enough if he doesn't want to see his character like it but it's idiotic to ask for people to stop making it, because it's just not gonna happen.

Yeah there was, and it was a LOT more stylized. I think the breast proportions are a bit large because of that. Her facial structure also looked a little closer to E3 Elizabeth than Final Elizabeth. I'd imagine E3 Elizabeth looked a little more oddly "proportioned" because it was a transition between stabilization and realism.

Yes, Ken. And you have a Liberal Arts degree, so you damn well know what a double entendre is.
who does ken levine think he even is?? we are the INTERNET, we are a force to be reckoned with, we will do as we please, and we cannot be tamed! *pulls out rule 34 of elizabeth while wheezing from the sheer power of being the internet, reaching desperately for inhaler under piles of empty cheetos bags and used tissues*
Elizabeth could have been an ugly old hag with sores and pus oozing out and there would still be porn of her. Admittedly not as much, but the point is Rule 34 excludes nothing; it may be insensitive, but ignore it Levine.
imo the people that make that kind of porn are usually complete creeps anyway if they're not just doing it for money
[editline]10th October[/editline]
but at the same time it's kind of good that there's people dumb enough to commission drawn porn because it makes being an artist on the internet somewhat viable, if gross

I, for one, feel absolutely disgusted with myself for depicting characters without clothes for my own monetary gain.
I'm also a complete creep, unlike all the COOL GUYS.
Making a prominent female character in an AAA game who wouldn't get R34 within a month of the release should be considered as a very impressive feat.

To be honest, she was probably getting R34 before the game even came out.
The internet works fast, and it is merciless.
its kind of worrying how realistic the animations in some of the gifs on the reddit subsection thing looks
To be honest it looks like a lot of stock motion capture. I'm probably wrong though.
On that note, nobody told me there was a Booker DeWitt model out!
The internet works fast, and it is merciless.
*Some people work fast and are merciless
*Some people work fast and are merciless
*but mostly fast
But is porn with Booker fine?
-nah-
An addendum to my previous statement, tying into BInfinite; there is always a fictional character, there is always a perverted artist, there is always a painted canvas, there is always Rule 34. Constants, and variables.
"It's like coming across a picture of your daughter,"
There we go with the surrogate daughter complex. I get this a lot from everyone who likes the game, and since I haven't played it (I didn't even look it up), can anyone tell me whether or not there's a lot of emphasis on the whole daughter thing inside of the game? Or is the character likeable enough that it doesn't have to be forced?
[sp]I also get the same speech from people who played TLoU, which is also praised for its characterization which alledgedly makes up for the sub-par gameplay.[/sp]
I don't think its a problem because its dehumanizing a video game character. That makes no sense.
I do think its dumb because it reduces the character and its integrity to "LOOK DAT GURLS HUEG TITTEHS". A character is what you make of it to an extent. To me Elizabeth as a character was a lot more than a walking pair or breasts. She was believable and likable. So yeah she's not at all the kind of character I'd hope to see porn of, but others would say differently and HEY! that just the way of things. I can understand Ken's feelings on the matter, and to an extent I agree, but its not going to change, and I hardly consider it something to get upset over.
In the end it doesn't change my perception of the character. Through my time with the game I was never thinking to myself "DAYUM GURL GOT MAD BACK GONNA JACK IT TO DAT". I thought they did a good job of making her likable, but not in a sexualized way. And just because there's porn of her, I still feel the same way. But if other people think differently, whatever. More power to em.
...That's what I fucking meant. Dehumanizing means removing all of the elements of something that's designed to be human like. Irrational spent a lot of time making Elizabeth a very believeable character, the best way to do that is to make her as human as possible in a controlled way.
Fuck's sake people, you can dehumanize something that's imaginary if its original intent was to fool you into thinking it was human.
I certainly understand why he's upset. She's something he worked hard on and helped to create.
But the internet and its sweaty denizens are awful and that stuff happens, sadly

If you can't write a character and accept that people who view your work will come up with all sorts of terrible things with it then you shouldn't be a writer.
At that point you are essentially creating a "perfect waifu" for yourself.

Apparently having sex dehumanizes you.

Not sure why you spoiler tagged that, but Last of Us and sub-par game play? In my opinion, Last of Us had outstanding game play. For me, Last of Us and GTA V are the top contenders for game of the year.
Your only going to encourage them Ken. Seriously it's like everytime that folks on the internet get told NOT to do something they respond by doing it even more.
