Future Shop closing all stores in Canada, some to become Best Buy

Dunno about other peoples Future Shops but the ones near me were always better than their Best Buy counterparts. Best Buy staff suck too.
This annoys me greatly.
I have always and always will continue to shop for my computer parts and accessories on newegg. Bestbuy and all the stores like it just want to rip you off and that's it.
Rather than demolishing the future shop or selling the property, they should build a second best buy and have them mirror each other.
hey, it worked for starbucks
Futureshop was a mess, and fraudulent as fuck, always trying to con the customer. Best Buy is a little bit better, but they do have less technical stuff.
theyre owned by the same people. i think most of the differences between the two were dependant on the store more than anything else. it's not like all futureshops are trying to con you (at least not relative to best buy).
Theres a futureshop here thats about a 5 miute walk from a bestbuy, strangely enough only future shop actually had what I wanted

End of an era in my city.
In my hometown over 10 years ago there was a McDonalds and Burger King right next to each other :v:

There was an EB Games and a GameStop next to each other in a mall where i used to live. The GameStop closed a year or 2 after it opened.
This reminds me of the Seven Eleven situation in Taiwan

I've always favoured Future Shop over Best Buy. Not sure why.
Buddy of mine was a full time computer technician with Future Shop - he's been there six years. He was offered $1200 and a part time position at Best Buy.
Lol.
EB Games and Gamestop have the same issue. A mall in Brampton has both, right near each other. Usually went to the EB as the people that worked there were much nicer and the manager at gamestop was a huge pain with upselling.

Similar situation in the UK over here as well, before GAME went broke they had a lot of stores at worst a few streets away from another. My particular town had two streets away and also had a Gamestation (Also owned by them at the time). Quite obviously it was way too many and I think it was part of the reason for their decline.
I always got a discount at bestbuy for looking and memorizing the labelled prices of what they were selling. For anyone going to the crossing location in NS, there's a reason they were forced to put up "all products must by law meet their labelled shelf price" signs at every register.
