I think the vertical design looks pretty cool.
Different sized bills is just retarded.
Different sized bills is just retarded.
Yeah, fuck blind people! They don't need to know what kind of bills they have.
I like the way this one looks best.
Agreed. I personally think they shouldn't change with which presidents go on which notes (cept for Jackson, he was a bit of a psychopath).
Yeah, fuck blind people! They don't need to know what kind of bills they have.
Yes because it's IMPOSSIBLE to make the value of the bill thicker, so that a blind person can feel the "50" or "1" on it.

I like them the way they are right now.
They could put braille over the number instead.
Exactly, making the bills different sizes makes it harder for everyone, because cash registers would have to be adapted to fit each different size, wallets would have to be made bigger to fit the biggest size, you get where I'm going with this.

Pure metal bills. Just like in ye olden times.
I predict currency will be digital within the next 30 years anyway.
Here's my picks: $100 - Alexander Hamilton $50 - Benjamin Franklin $20 - George Washington $10 - Abraham Lincoln $5 - Franklin Roosevelt $1 - John F. Kennedy 25¢ - Theodore Roosevelt 10¢ - Woodrow Wilson 5¢ - Dwight D. Eisenhower 1¢ - Harry S. Truman
Does anyone else think we should just do away with coinage altogether? It costs more to produce must coins than they're actually worth. It would make a lot of sense just to print paper money for fractions of bills. You print quarter dollar bills and half dollar bills which are worth 25 and 50 cents respectively. The smaller values (1, 5, and 10) would be printed on smaller paper bills. The penny would be a little bigger than a postage stamp. Now, how do you keep a hold of all these little bills? They get printed in serrated sheets! Any time you need to give smaller amounts of change, you just tear off what you need and hand it over. You could even print it in rolls so that it's easy for cashiers to give change. Visual aid:
Coins are more durable, and stay in circulation longer than bills. This offsets the cost and makes them less expensive in the end.

The Vertical Dollar is good, but replace Obama with the American Flag.
Coins are more durable, and stay in circulation longer than bills. This offsets the cost and makes them less expensive in the end.
Not really. Because of inflation a penny is worth like eight times less than the metal it's made out of. Not to mention that you could ship much more paper money than coins because of the drop in weight. Plus the paper is much much easier to recycle than metal. If the divisions were serrated I really doubt that would happen anything more than rarely. Even if it did happen, you'd lose a couple of cents. Not much to fret over.
Well, I still hope Obama isn't on the 1$ dollar bill, I believe that he is more of a symbolism of change
you're saying he should be on the quarter?
I would like to see Lincoln on the one dollar.
Americans already have the best money anyway. Theirs is actually green, unlike ours.

Replace Obama with Carl Sagan.
What if you really needed those moneys for a purchase
What do you do normally if you lose a penny, nickle, or dime? That's not really a situation that's limited to my hypothetical paper coinage. [editline]02:47PM[/editline] Also what kind of important purchase are you making with exact change?
Has anyone else noticed how none of them say "In God We Trust"?
Has anyone else noticed how none of them say "In God We Trust"?
Inb4 Republican shitstorm.

[editline]02:47PM[/editline] Also what kind of important purchase are you making with exact change?
maybe you have like 3 quarters and then you need those nickels for a 1 dollar purchase and you fuck em up
What's wrong with the greenbacks?
The biggest problem with greenbacks is that they're easier to counterfeit than most modern bills, that being said, however, there has been a lot of effort to remedy this problem already so a complete redesign isn't really necessary.
Inb4 Republican shitstorm.
Republicans and Libertarians would already shitstorm, look at those "New Deal" rats all over the place.
maybe you have like 3 quarters and then you need those nickels for a 1 dollar purchase and you fuck em up
It's not easy to rip a dollar bill. You'd practically have to try at it to mess it up that bad. In any case, my point still stands that this situation isn't limited to the paper money theory. Whether the coin is made of metal or paper, something can always happen and people will adapt accordingly. I mean, what do you do normally if you go to make a purchase, but while counting out the change you drop a nickel and lose it?
