:v:
What the fuck does the Spanish royal family have with guns? Juan Carlos I killed his brother with a shotgun... Also, there's absolutely nobody in Spain who likes the monarchy.
Too bad it's actually not that passive. Elephants often rage for no reason at all, they're known to kill humans for no reason.
Elephants are capable of holding grudges. To the extent where they're able to recognize humans who have hurt members of their family or themselves and take revenge. Some elephants go on rampages and kill human beings, some elephants slaughter their cattle.
Also, there's absolutely nobody in Spain who likes the monarchy.
According to a poll in the newspaper El Mundo in November 2005, 77.5% of Spaniards thought Juan Carlos was "good or very good", 15.4% "not so good", and only 7.1% "bad or very bad".

I personally don't see a monarchy necessary at current times, specially when the function it serves most of the time is wasting public money you could spend in something more useful like education or science. Too bad the priorities of this country are mostly which football team is gonna win the league (France parodying Spanish sportsmen being a state matter in a country with a massive unemployment rate and with every sane person leaving to find a decent work just shows how rotten this whole thing is)

Also, public opinion shifted even more after to-be-consort (Leticia) got a nosejob (with tax money, obviously). Pissed loads of people off.

The king is the head of the second oldest monarchy in the world, a living link to Spain's glorious past, a living symbol for a united Spain. His very existence is part of the seams that hold the fabric of Spanish culture and nationhood together. Then I'm sure you will be happy to prove it.
The king symbolizes the personal union between Aragon and Castille,he basicly holds the two parts together and otherwise would be two different countries(they have different language, culture). You cant just take and old tradition and throw it out of the window because some liberal ideals, the kings still has a meaning.

The Austrians came to Spain, Felipe and Juana united Castilla and Aragon, eventually around the 1700s Charles II is born who has mental retardation and dies without offspring and is an only child. Spain's left without king, and the Borbon family comes, which kept going (only being interrupted by a year-long reign of Amadeus I of Savoy/Spain which didn't go too well) until now with Juan Carlos I. So you can't say that it represents the union of a then divided Peninsula. Also, fun fact, apparently he belonged to the WWF... why would you go hunting elephants then?
