"I believe everything that happened in this world was of total blind chance, no rhyme or reason, everything's materialistic, dreams and thoughts and hopes and feelings are nothing but fake, and anyone who disagrees is a tool" "I believe possibly eveyrthing of how this world works was possibly engineered by some sort of Higher Power that used evolution to do-so" Both of those sound rather ridiculous, it just depends on your personal beliefs. I personally believe the latter of those two statements, you believe the first. [editline]04:39PM[/editline] Plenty of other religious people have this opinion too of theistic evolution, but evolution's been given such a bad name most people think "NOOO ATHEISM" when they think of evolution.
Actually that's kind of the exact opposite of what any scientifically minded person believes. Seeing as how the whole point of science is that you assume nothing happens without reason, meaning as a scientist one thinks there is absolutely no blind chance. But I'm positive you can't understand that at this point. And dreams aren't fake, they're a product of your mind. They're entirely corporeal. You're blowing shit out of your ass. [editline]02:01AM[/editline]
We thought the world was flat because of all this evidence surrounding it was true. We thought the earth was the center of our galaxy because of all this evidence we had. We thought the world would end in 1900 because of all this evidence we had. We thought maggots generated from meat because of all this evidence we had. [editline]05:03PM[/editline]
Really? Tell me what evidence we had for saying the world was flat. And keep in mind that the idea that the world was round was considered thousands of years ago, and we have records of arguments for that very idea. Once again, what evidence did we have besides religious leaders telling us that. One again, what evidence? What evidence? All of these things you're talking about are approximate assumptions we made in the absence of evidence. Not only that, but some of them were only accepted as long as they were because religious leaders said they were true and locked up the actual scientists who disagreed.
No, thankfully. Go out-of-state for college or something - North Carolina's not far away and they're pretty smart.
This. Stick to the cities and never stray into the countryside.
This is my point exactly, and I believe you've finally hit the poit I've been trying to get to, but myself was too stupid to even say it. The universe was made through evolution, yes, but we don't know how it happened, and how that effect happened either. It could be a Diety, it could be random chance, we don't know. It's completely illogical to state science disproves God, but likewise it's complete illogical to say it proves God.
The universe wasn't "made through evolution" you ninny. Evolution is a biological concept that applies only to the adaptation and specialization of species over time. And as far as astrophysics is concerned, we have a pretty damn good idea of how that works, and how the universe came to be in it's present state. The only "hole" you could possibly even try to refer to is what triggered the big bang, but that trying to shoe horn God into that is absolutely absurd.
[release] In an ad released earlier this month, which you can watch above, Alabama gubernatorial candidate Bradley Byrne is attacked for suggesting that evolution, as opposed to creationism, "HERP DERP DURRRRRR." The spot, from a shadowy group called the "DERP DERP HURRRRRR," also criticizes Byrne for suggesting the Bible is "DURRRRRRRRRRRR." Byrne, a former Democrat, is one of a number of candidates for the Republican nomination, and his opponents include "DERP DERP" Roy Moore and Tim James, who last month released an ad in which he said, "HURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR." In a response, Byrne said the ad was filled with "DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" - and insisted he is no opponent of creationism. "DERP DERP DERP. HURRRRRRRRRR DURRRRRRRRR. DURRRRRRRRRRR HURRRRRRRRRRRR." He also said that, contrary to the ad's claims, he believes "HERPA DERPA DERP" of the Bible is true.[/release] This is what I read the article as
Ich, Republican primaries in the South are very annoying. It always ends up as a "Who is the real conservative and who is a RINO?", if my experience in Texas is correct.
There is freedom of religion for a reason. Gmod is only saying that you cant prove big bang more than you can prove God. I will so get assfucked for this with people saying you can prove big bang by measuring radiation. But, really, that sounds pretty ridiculous to me.I mean, even though we think we know all about this world, new discoveries are made every day, and big bang is nothing but a scientific theory. I do not believe in God, but I will not believe in science either before I see more than text about it in papers.
If you knew the first thing about science you'd know not intuitive =/= not true.
Quantum physics, anyone?
