Are you seriously putting your morals before the law? (though it doesn't really apply here)
Why is that so surprising?
Pay for it? I don't intend to charge for any games i make...

Good luck. When billion-dollar companies have had their games hacked and modded despite possessing DRM which costed hundreds of thousands of dollars to research and produce; if somebody wants to mod your game, people will. And if you do, wouldn't you rather you made it relatively easy for them, rather than leaving them frustrated?

Pretentious as fuck.

Oh, and GTA V doesn't have VAC....
Saintsim you should really consider reevaluating your priorities, standards, and life choices.

Like what? Being able to comprehend an idea as simple as creative purity? I swear, FP has the most willful ignorance sometimes. Would famous paintings in a museum be better if they gave the visitors crayons and pencils and let them draw all over it??? What if some art-styles just can't be imitated? Just fucking face it, not EVERY game needs mod support. Why even bother arguing this? You guys have been conditioned (probably by Skyrim) to not trust the devs to make a good game and that the community can always do a better job.

Defacing the original is not the same as having a customized version that you have on your own.

Why should it matter?
If people want to mod something, let them. I want to get into game development too, and if i get something released, if someone wants to mod it, well why the hell not? They paid for it, didnt they? Let people have fun with it.
Thats what games are for, right? To entertain? For people to have fun?
[editline]24th May 2015[/editline]
Wait, hold on, im sorry, you'll be releasing them for free, i forgot.
Probably wont work out well in the long run for your bank account or funding any future games, but my point still stands.
Would famous paintings in a museum be better if they gave the visitors crayons and pencils and let them draw all over it???
Get the fuck over yourself, you aren't creating some visual piece of art in a setting such as that, it's a game, and like all digital media can be restored to it's original condition.
Quit crying about ruined art when nothings being ruined to begin with, other than your original artistic vision, but here's how I feel about it. If you offer no room for someone's imagination to be caught by your game, your game had no imagination put into it at all.
Edit:
Modding isn't damaging an original game by allowing some to add in what they please to a game they purchased with their money, especially if those people release their content for free for a COMMUNITY to enjoy. And you'll only develop a community if you listen to them and give them what they want.
Are you willing to listen or are we all "entitled"?
Then I feel it's even worse to release something for free for others enjoyment if you also put limits on how they can enjoy it. That's bullshit.

Boyo, you're on a forum originally created for a game that was originally a mod for half-life 2, which in itself only lived on and gained popularity due to even more community mods.
Does the hypocrisy make you feel ashamed and immensely retarded? or do I have to point it out even more blatantly.

Why are you not getting the point of modding? If you keep playing the same game for quite some time, it will get boring. That's where mods come, to prolong the fun you get from playing said game.
Also, that analogy is crap.

You're not changing anything in the original. You're only changing your copy of it.
If I bought a copy of the fucking Mona Lisa or whatever, I should be allowed to draw a little moustache on it if I wanted to. And in fact, I am allowed to.

Remove VAC auth check kick from server, patch client to not load VAC. You'd literally only have to NOP a few instructions to get around that.
You should learn how games work before you attempt to make one.

Re-skins in COD:MW2 made people VAC banned.
Re-skins in COD:MW2 made people VAC banned.
They didn't, people modified their archives to have bright player skins and used a tool to add "garbage" to the archive to make its CRC collide with the original to bypass the game's check. VAC only integrity checks executables.

Mona Lisa has thousands of copies were it has been modified into different types of art styles. Also parodies, which increases it's popularitie's durability, product awareness, cultural spreadness, creative influence. Mods is also the best way to market your product as free advertisement.

Haha holy shit how are you so mad about people modding their own game
and before you go and whine about how it's the dev's game - if you buy a game, it's yours, and you should be able to do whatever the fuck you want with it. should mod support by the dev be a standard? no. that's the dev's choice.

launch command -insecure disables vac
They seem to hold quite damn well when it comes to DMCA and cease and desist though.
Then I'll just release the mod under a completely new identity that cannot be traced back to myself, posting only from public wifi and VPN, and your cease and desist and DMCA notices will have nowhere to be sent to, and you'll just have to deal with it.

Or just release the mod on a non-US server where DMCAs have no weight. Because it's a US law, and the US has not, yet, taken over the world.
