Holy shit.
Homefront generally was an interesting idea with really shitty developing, this might get interesting. Generally, it's a shame that THQ bit the dust, but what comes of it is keeping me engaged to say the least.
Agreed, I think Homefront had some potential in its story and some of its multiplayer mechanics but fell really far short on execution, if Crytek could take advantage of the good ideas it had and put them into a decent sequel it could actually be quite a good game.
Can we trust koch media on not fucking up Metro?
I don't know why people are rating this winner. THQ was one of the few good companies left that cared about PC's and overall quality to the games they published. Frankly, I dislike Ubisoft and Crytek and I've never heard of Koch Media.
From Relic lunch room.

I'd say yes aslong as A4 games is still the one running the show.
Honestly, the only IP here I can see EA treating well is WWE.
Don't really know what to think of the purchases so far. Hopefully they're all in good hands.
koch sure did dish out a lot of money for volition
Seems they're interested in just buying the IP rather than the studio, would be interesting to see what they'd do with the franchise.
They've offered anyone from vigil a job before even publicly announcing that they were taking darksiders, and I'm really fucking happy about this, they're the only two companies that can do combo combat right nowadays.
Evolve
Winning bid: 10.8 million- Take two Interactive
Runner up: 250,000- Turtle Rock Studios (AKA The studio developing Evolve)
This right here is the biggest news we're not talking about. Turtle Rock Studios were the original developers behind Left 4 Dead, and while some of them moved over to Valve, they must be making something amazing if Take 2 dropped that much cash to publish their new game.
Well I'm glad most of the good stuff went to decent or tolerable publishers. Only thing disappointing is Homefront going to Crytek which is under EA.
I just sincerely hope Sega won't fuck up anything, the guys at Relic have been doing a damn good job so far and I wish things didn't change too much.
Damn shame about THQ, But I for one am TOTALLY okay with Platinum taking over Darksiders. Seeing as I've been playing the hell out of Anarchy Reigns and just tried out the Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengeance demo today.
I think it'd be pretty interesting to see how Zenimax would've handled Relic if they won the bid.
Dawn of Dragonborn: Dishonored rage.
But really, Zenimax is not a good company.

Farewell, THQ. It was a hell of a ride.
Koch Media agreed to purchase Volition and Metro
Does that mean Koch owns Red Faction?
I can't find the statement itself but a whole bunch of websites are reporting on this statement from Koch:
"Koch Media has formally announced the acquisition of intellectual property rights for Metro and Saints Row -- two of THQ's most beloved and successful franchises. Koch Media, the owner of Dead Island publisher Deep Silver, also acquired Volition, the Chicago-based studio responsible for the development of Saints Row and Red Faction. As part of the announcement, the company confirmed that Deep Silver will lead "all further development and marketing" on the Saints Row and Metro franchises."

Well, shit.
well the guys who make bayonetta, DMC, Vanquish, God Hand, etc work there.
it would be amazing.
Except it wouldn't be. They're completely different developers and completely different people who make completely different games. From a completely different culture that designs games for a completely different style of gamers. Darksiders will be itself, possibly only in name and some art assets.
I want Darksiders 3, not "Darksiders 3"
And Vigil studios is dead, so this is a moot point anyway. Just read about it.

I don't see what's wrong with new developers that makes better 3rd person hack'n slash games taking over the Darksiders IP. What's the problem? They make the same kind of games.
I can only see it improve, not devolve. As much as I fucking love Darksiders it has a lot to improve on.
Vigil studios being dead is only relevant to Vigil studios working on Darksiders. The Darksiders IP is THQ's, not Vigil's.
What's happening with STALKER series ?

It's relevant because it's their game and their style. Unless Platinum games follows it, I don't expect it to be the same. To make it really blunt, I'll take something you like, and I'll do it my way. It won't feel nor be the same.
Also, Darksiders isn't a hack n' slash, there is much more to it, like Zelda-esque puzzles, dungeons, over-world. DS2 introduced lots of RPG elements too.
To boil it down to a basic beat em up, is removing what made Darksiders what it is.

Gotta purge fast
What's happening with STALKER series ?
GSC left THQ after the first game. STALKER is basically frozen/dead because the owner of GSC fired the entire STALKER 2 team awhile ago.
What's happening with STALKER series ?
THQ only published two of the three titles if I understand correctly - STALKER died with GSC, though Bethesda supposedly acquired some form of 'rights' to the intellectual property in some form or another.
This is all if I recall correctly, of course.
I'm mostly worried about Dark Millenium tho
