Harmonix has "grand plans" to revive Rock Band potentially for Xbox One, PS4
It'd be interesting if they could get around the 1000 DLC limit that was in RB3 in an iteration for this gen. If they could, I doubt they'll package all of the songs. Licensing complications and whatnot.
The limit was actually only 1000 on the Wii version. On 360 and PS3 it's somewhere just under 3000 (due to the trainer/tutorial "songs" counting towards the limit). The song limit probably won't be a problem on the new gen.
I don't see thousands of dollars of DLC being included in one disk, though I imagine that song libraries will be transferable, at least from 360>X1 and PS3>4. There's got to be some reason that they're renewing all the licenses for the older songs other than for the few people who still play and haven't gotten those songs yet.

rip in peace Warriors of Rock was pretty good
WoR was my favorite rhythm game, the soundtrack was had so much fan service and the engine was pretty spot on for the most part. There was a lot of decent DLC for it too. Much better guitar centric game than Rock Band
I know these games are mainly for groups of people but I've always wanted them on PC. At the very least give us Guitar Hero.
I'd love to see a Rock Band 4 in the same "real instruments" vein of the third game. I'd also really appreciate a Wii U version; nothing really needed for a game like this that the Wii U can't already do, right?
i hope they port over all the dlc and i hope i don't have to rebuy it all
which unfortunately sounds a bit unrealistic
I want that bluray to be completely full of music.
I always liked Rock Band more than Guitar Hero but I liked the GH controllers more than the RB ones. The little bit you use to strum on the Rock Band guitars didn't have the nice clicky feel Guitar Hero's did
Finally
Now i can recreate my band of wife beater wearing wizards that exclusively play pop rock and classic rock tracks
Can't keep gandolf and the couch magicians away from rocking
Hot Dog Party will finally have the comeback they deserve.
I hope this happens. And I hope they don't release another for this generation.
I say that because I'd rather have DLC rather than an entirely new Rock Band for each set of new songs to come out. It'd be pretty awesome if they somehow connected to a music site to coordinate songs as well.
I liked it when it was just Guitar Hero. Rock Band always seemed a bit overkill.
I always thought it was a better series than Guitar Hero. Rock Band added cool shit (like vocal harmonies in The Beatles: Rock Band, a keytar (fuck yeah) and pro instruments in Rock Band 3.) Guitar Hero didn't really do all that much (besides adding band instruments and the godawful slider bar in World Tour.)
Plus in its later years GH was more about "check these mad skills dudebro", with the songs being weirdly mapped to the inputs in places in the name of difficulty. Rock Band was always relatively easy in comparison and a lot more forgiving. Made for a better party game really.
Guitar Hero often did really weird shit like mapping keyboard parts to the guitar. In Through the Fire and Flames in Guitar Hero 3, they mapped random keyboard fills when the guitar wasn't doing anything.
Rock Band was usually more accurate (and would sometimes not include guitar parts for certain songs, like with Imagine.)

You've pretty much nailed why I like GH more. It was more a "game" than a "simulation". It's more fun playing random keyboard stuff than doing nothing. It was a game geared to shredding crazy stuff, and as someone who 5 starred every song in the series (except for eruption but we don't talk about that) I can say I very much enjoyed Neversoft's constant fan service in that department
I wanted to like the pro guitar on RB3 but Rocksmith just did it so much better.

Fair enough, I guess. Some of the fan service-y stuff was kinda neat, like Megadeth doing a new song for Warriors of Rock and having the entirety of 2112 (fuck yeah.)

Ironically, when Activision canned the series, the dev's were working on a new iteration that would've added a sixth button to the controller and faux strings to strum instead of just one strum bar.
