Charitable donations made by gigantic corporations are nothing more than tax reduction tactics and attempts to raise public popularity percentages.
Hahaha wow. I hadn't considered the possibility of people campaigning for the use of fossil fuels. Maybe it was confirmation bias of believing humans as a whole wanted us to survive the next 200 years. I don't say this often, but I hope these fuckers wither soon.

Theses people are right, we should be driving wood fueled cars because its cheaper to grow the timber than extract oil from the ground. Why do people believe this stuff? I mean like seriously you can charge an electric vehicle with a push bike and a generator.
If you're going to do that you might as well just use the bike.
I just walk instead. Public transport is cheaper than owning a car and bus drivers are very helpful when it comes to directions. Still. I wish they would build more train lines.

And if you can afford to live in the type of place where you can realistically live without a car, you can also afford a luxury car anyway so it defeats the purpose. And for me an electric car wouldn't be viable. The only charging station is in this little town nearby that installed it out front of their courthouse in an attempt to seem new and hip, so pretty much unless I install a dryer outlet outside at home my only option to charge is to drive a distance that I may not be able to cover to a little town in bumfuck nowhere and hang out at their courthouse for an hour or so. Not attractive. But that's not to say this won't change. I don't really want a gas car but with the current state of infrastructure I simply have to buy one.

They're for out-of-towners. The idea is to use your houses electricity.

It's much more efficient to burn the same chemical potential in energy at a CCGT power station, then transmit it across power lines which lose heat, then charge a battery which loses some heat, then drive the car around using the secondary energy. Still doesn't lose as much energy as heat as your exhaust pipe spews out. It's basic, Middle School-ish efficiency maths. But of course, these extremely old rich people had really shitty 1930s or even earlier education. Energy efficiency has almost certainly never been taught to them. Or they're just fucking liars who would see the world burn if they could line their coffins and gravestones with gold leaf. I'm going to go with that, and for the sake of 7 billion people I'll be happy the day their precious magazine mourns their death.

Couple hundred dollars is probably the average. It's quite a convenience, never having to go to a gas station again to fuel up and wait in queues again. The only time you would have to go to a public charger would be on a long road trip.

But then that's just two places I can charge, so it still is a little inconvenient. I want to never buy an internal combustion car but I don't think electric cars are ready yet either so it's a shitty time to have to buy a car.

You probably won't know about it unless you go out of your way to look for it. If you bought a 200+ mile EV and live in western Europe or the central US you can probably get just about anywhere. Even Tesla's Supercharger network is capable of getting you just about anywhere without even looking at other companies chargers, the only issue is Arkansas and south west Texas for the US. You can have a play around with routing via charging spots here. It can be a little over active on having you charge when you don't need to though. These chargers are just Tesla's own network, you can enable others with the plug symbol on the bottom right but it's not very complete.
This is nothing new or surprising. The mantra of capitalism is to act in the name of short term profit for yourself, even if it means destroying the future for everyone else. They're being smart capitalists.
Why do I have the feeling that these two scumbags are going to live to be 110, because fuck humanity? A parasite in one day has more virtue than both of these pigs' entire lives. They are not human. They call themselves "human" when they are no better than savages or beasts damaging everyone on the planet with their deeds. These insects deserve to watch their children and loved ones die violently and slowly in front of them with no hope of salvation. It's still a more peaceful death than the people they have ruined.

Every day you have 200 miles on a full charge, you drive to work, you drive back. A gas car isn't something you top off every day, so you drive to work, you drive back after 3 days you only have a 100 mile range. Now gas has the luxury of quick filling but on pure range, the electric car beats out for normal daily use, the gas car has the advantage for long trips but it wasn't always that way and battery tech is rapidly fixing the charge time as well as the capacity, and social habits are changing as well to accommodate electric cars [editline]9th March 2016[/editline]
This is nothing new or surprising. They are just dumb and unimaginative capitalists.
Lmao are these old farts really trying to make clean energy look bad to promote fossil fuels
Fossil fuel businessmen want to keep their main business profitable, what a big surprise. Before you girls start getting butthurt and start calling them monsters who have never done any good or have any good traits, these guys support pro-choice, same sex marriage and have worked with President Obama to reform a broken criminal justice system. I don't like they are attacking electric cars but oh well.

For the sole purpose of making more money.
and most houses have their fuse box in the garage, making installation so easy that anyone with basic handyman skills can install it
Our fuse box is in the basement and shuts off if you try to use the AC, Washer, and Toaster at the same time. Not sure why AC would be on the same circuit as your plug sockets in the first place.

He said he fixed the problem with the fuses, too. It still happens, but with different fuses now :vs: It's an old house, so old wiring is to be expected. He told us the wiring on the side of our house was so old they don't even make 'em that way anymore, or maintain them.
Speaking of home charging, right now Tesla are doing a referral program so if you get referred by an existing owner they will give you up to $1200 towards getting a home charger installed.
