‘Occupy Oakland’ protester shot by rubber bullet while filming cops

The cop thought he was holding an RPG and took action to remove the threat.
Those darned protesters.

hey for once hoodoo makes a post instead of rating everyone who shows even the slightest approval of anything left-wing dumb.
turns out he's as stupid as i thought.
When are they going to start shooting back?
When are they going to start shooting back?
Hopefully, it never comes to that.
Well then the police need to realize that the people protesting are the same as them, regular people who want to make our country a better place. Shooting them for any reason is unwarranted and (in my book) is breaking the law and constitutes assault with a deadly weapon. As a result, that officer should be tried in court.

He likely will be. I really have to believe whoever shot him was immediately slugged by another officer if not arrested off to the side, because as much as people like to assume the entire force here is corrupt, a lot of departments are strict as shit about use of nonlethal rounds because of the big media spooking they can cause if used improperly.
Then again, Oakland's been mean, so I guess waiting to see if there's an official follow up to this will tell us a lot about the local authorities.
Yeah, everyone needs to remember that cameras can secretly be weapons, like those reporters in the Middle East who were running around with the RPG disguised as a video camera. For all the police could know, he might have been holding a shotgun or something inside that camera.
Copy pasting from another thread since this video was posted there too:
That was one cop's actions. I didn't hear an order to fire, and by the way he was moving he was probably fed up with people yelling at him. Not to say that it's justified, it isn't. But that was one pissed off cop who got no order (at least as far as we can tell) to do that. For all we know, the cop next to him shoved him back asking "What the fuck was that?"
you seriously think the police are justified in this situation baboso? are you so tonto joto that you'll defend a chorra regime? beso mi culo vete a la mierdia that's rediculous get your facts straight cago en tu leche pinche idiota

Which is why we should assume peaceful protesters in America, are concealing weapons in their cameras, and want to kill you.

the guy with the camera has a good case against the cops
he's pretty much rich
Well that looks like a totally legit time to use a weapon that has proven to be lethal in the past. I believe more countries should follow the UK police on the use of rubber bullets and only use them when there is a threat to life.
Firing even rubber bullets at someone who is just filming is so wrong in my eyes. I would go as far as saying that using rubber bullets against (mostly) peaceful protesters being complete overkill.
I just wish a cop next to that asshole would've done something. Surely some other department would notice?
Spanish always make me burst out laughing
Waiting for the veterans in the crowd to be pushed too far.
One marine scout sniper would ruin the police for fucking months. They just aren't trained or equipped to counter a sniper with the amount and type of training those guys get.

It'd be best if it could just stay peaceful and all, without that happening. I keep seeing a lot more people calling for open violence on the part of the Occupy movement and while I understand where they are coming from, the implications and consequences are just so far reaching. It wouldn't be good if it ever came to that. Any violence is bad, and more is only going to make it worse.
Fuck that motherfucking cop.
Alright a few things, I don't know if it works differently with rubber bullets than normal ones, but the gunshot sound came before the muzzleflash which looked more like a large plume of smoke. Also by the sound of it the protester was hurling "your mom" insults at officers. Assuming this was real (which is doubtful), then yeah the officer overreacted. Maybe a little bit of an anger-management issue or a warning shot gone wrong, the cop flew off the handle when they started cursing his family, he probably would've done the same thing even if he wasn't a cop. They always spin these events to brutalize police and victimize protesters. I'm trying not to take a side here, but neither one is right.

If a cop can't take an insult then they should stop being a policeman.

It's racism like this that lets the people on wall street stay rich folks
the spanish people as a whole always make him laugh because he is above everything the spanish people have brought to society.
