Update:
FBI officially treating Boston Marathon explosions as terrorism investigation
Treating DOES NOT mean it was necessarily
Everyone needs to stop speculating here. 0 Facts relating this to a terrorist organization/person/country. It'll be DAYS before we really understand what happened, then after that, someone will make a political movement out of it. It happens every time. Right now they're just looking to get everything under control in the city.
You're right except that the political movements will begin before the facts.
My thoughts go out to everyone in Boston and everyone affected by this tragedy.
The more packages being found, the more this sounds like it's either a group, or one really committed guy.
Continuous reports of a yellow "Pesky"(?) truck on the police radio? Anyone know what that is? Seems as though it was turned away, supposedly delivering medical supplies. Mentioned it may be a rental truck?
I can't believe this happened. I could have been right there. I'm a Boston University freshman. It would have been the first Boston Marathon I'd have attended. I have a final paper due Tuesday so I decided to instead go home with my parents to finish the paper, and in doing so I wasn't anywhere near this. All I hope now is that my friends weren't there.

But I believe this is the surveillance photo they were talking about.
that isn't a "surveillance photo"........
Maybe North Korea did it?
If they did, then placing at an international event with hundreds of runners from different countries is a clear act of aggression vs. the world, so i doubt it.
The more they talk about it, the more it sounds like some delusional maniac than some organized terrorist group.
Third bomb reported as an incident, not a controlled explosion by Boston Police Commissioner.

Mentioned it may be a rental truck?
Probably a Penske truck. Penske is a truck rental service, Like U-haul or Budget.
The ATF and National Guard are helping to secure the perimeter- according to Boston's Police Commissioner.
My friend from school was at the marathon because his mom was running it, he was only a couple hundred feet away from where the explosions happened. Thankfully his mom is fine, but it sounded pretty insane. abcnews did an over the phone interview with him on live TV a little bit ago.

It's quite shaking and disturbing news to say the least, I hope that nobody else is injured or killed from yet to be found bombs.

Similar trucks used in Oklahoma bombing and Oslo bombing, and the first WTC bombing.
The more they talk about it, the more it sounds like some delusional maniac than some organized terrorist group.
Neither have been confirmed or even slight evidence of, so they're talking out of their ass so they look like they're still on top of events to inform people.
Oh jesus
Holy fuck!
As of currently I am not concerned with causation or motive, only that everyone is moved out of harms way. But I believe this is the surveillance photo they were talking about.
Still... I would not be surprised if some people tried to go up the buildings for a better view of the marathon. Were roofs off limits during the marathon?

Confirmed not related by staff
Currently talking about the suspect. "Black male, black hoodie and a black backpack"
460 National Guard soldiers mobilized in Boston.
Terrorist attacks go after the response of public services (schools, public transport, EMS, Fire, Police) and strike fear and chaos in to the crowd. Murders turn into massacres. Serial killers are way more devoted that bombs.
This isn't quite accurate. Terrorism can be on a singular scale, like an assassination, if it uses the motive of terror to affect public policy. It doesn't have to be against a crowd, government, public service, or anything like that to be terrorism. It just needs to intentionally cause terror, by any means, in an attempt to change policy.
