Any leads on what kind of explosion it was? Where it was an attack, someone being a fuck-wit, or a freak accident?
A lot of people are quick to point fingers right now, but don't realize it could be a horrible accident.
Its theoretically possible that it was just an accident, but the explosions being over a block away, timed during the peak of activity, and right at the finish line are all a lot of real lucky coincidences if that were the case.
no
2:53 pm
the explosion happened around 2:50pm
12:53pm is when the tweet was sent not 2:53pm

Scanner is getting really sketchy.
Stay off 4Chan. Stupid shit going on there.
It's almost certainly not an accident, the police have found multiple devices around the city.
no way its an accident!
I'm just joining this thread now, but wasn't it confirmed that the two explosions came from devices in garbage cans, and another was found undetonated in another garbage can?
Yeah, there just happened to be two accidental explosions during a crowded marathon.
You've never heard of methane, or natural gas line explosions? It's a pretty common thing.
wow mayor menino was in the hospital this morning for a broken leg, but when he heard about the bombing, he left the hospital.
What? The Twitter post says 12:53.
that's because you're in a different time zone
over here in EST, the twitter post was 2:53 and the explosion was 2:50 or so
in your time zone, the explosion would be around 12:50
There's no way only two people died. Those explosions were huge.

It'll probably be a while until anything is truly "confirmed" because everything is so hectic. Just stay tuned to a police scanner if you really want to be updated.
any reports of other crimes happening under the cover of this? looting and such?

I'm no expert on the matter, but if it was a gas line wouldn't there have been an ongoing fire if that were the case? And you'd almost certainly be able to smell it, wouldn't you?

On 30 University Rd., they're looking into a report of a "suspicious item".
I haven't heard anything on the scanner about looting or any other crimes.
I had friends running in it today. I'm so incredibly thankful they're ok.
This all is just terrible. That photo of that guy with his legs blown off, while still being concious. Jesus chirst, the poor guy. I can't imagine what he is going through now.
On another note; We need another thread for this soon, as we are going to hit the limit, and there are still a lot of things not clear yet.
any reports of other crimes happening under the cover of this? looting and such?
what exactly is there to loot?
Thread is going to hit 1000 fast and auto lock soon.
There's no way only two people died. Those explosions were huge.
They didn't spread out much horizontally and there wasn't necessarily that much shrapnel from what I can see. There could quite possibly a lot of people that will die from injuries though since it was an incendiary device.
any reports of other crimes happening under the cover of this? looting and such?
This isn't exactly the sort of thing that sparks looting.
