This is DC dude. Given their track record, of course they'll choose the fetishistic one.
I'd say both Marvel and DC have a pretty consistent track record of sexualising/fetishising their characters.
Kinda reminds me of Barbara Gordon when she was paralyzed. A lot of Post-Crisis Batman stories go into screwed up territories like this so I'm not really surprised (thank you Frank Miller and Alan Moore). DC has always been using stuff like this to gain interest but not always so dark. I wait for the day when we can sexualise Martha Kent.
jesus christ that's leery - it sounds like a porn script except less professional
Come to think of it, Marvel did it a lot first (not so much now) then DC followed. Marvel's overwhelming sales is pretty much what made DC reboot their entire universe. EDIT: My merge
jesus christ that's leery - it sounds like a porn script except less professional
Seriously, the only thing I can think of that even comes close to this level of retardation are low-calibre erotic adventure games coded in HTML, and even they're not this bad. Why is this guy still employed?

He's done other great work too such as his run on Daredevil and Sin City was pretty good but I think something snapped. It's like he never left Sin City and every story is now a Sin City rip off. Did you see his Wonder Woman? I have no words.
Puddin' :(
lol this coming from the guy who drew inflation art of girls getting inflated like balloons and then popped with a needle
*whilst under the pen name "CattyN", posing as a young girl mind you
Why is that picture he drew in the comic (meta?) so much better drawn than everything else?
Same why ctrl-alt-del has average to bad art even though the artist is actually decent otherwise. It's cheaper and easier
Modern Harley (Timm's Harley) has always been sexualized, but it also works extremely well for her character. She's an extreme personality, not viewing sexuality as something erotic, but as a joke. It's tongue-in-cheek; it's a parody of the genre. Just look at her in the Arkham games, saying things like, "what do you think of my new outfit? Don't I look HOT?" That's a pretty big part of what makes Harley "Harley." The Timm Harley was my favorite, and I think just about everybody's favorite, because she was handled extremely well, but even his had overt sexuality as one of her defining characteristics. This comic page isn't meant to be a softcore porno; there's nothing stating she has to be making a "fuck-me" face and lathering her bazongas. It's also certainly not meant to feature explicit nudity. The point is to represent her character's core aspects: she is a parody of comic book sexualization with an extreme and exaggerated personality.

Same why ctrl-alt-del has average to bad art even though the artist is actually decent otherwise. It's cheaper and easier
B^U is not a decent artist
B^U is not a decent artist
he bought an expensive cintiq tablet monitor to do this and yeah, running a comic by yourself requires quick turnarounds to get more panels out in reasonable timeframes but as artists I don't respect either of them. I even spent some time trying to talk with dob after a huge situation to help direct him more into something that wouldn't get him criticized, and he turned around to do the exact opposite of what I said and made his 'SYAC' story with the young self insert (that he said wasn't a self insert at first) going through the tropes of being an art student with a harassing teacher... except somehow the teacher was actually right all of the time and even made some of my points in the comic I was mad commenting elsewhere, jolly jack's style isn't really befitting DC comic stuff, but there's different positions to reach, since storyboarding/sketch artist/inker/colorer are all handled separately within teams most of the time. The sketch artist could have a very unique style and the inker could interject his own style or follow more guidelines to squeeze it into the form of the comic's intended style, and it'd end up a totally different vibe. For a good example of artist-to-production, look at Chris Sanders, the artist known most for Lilo & Stitch and the Croods [t]http://www.deathfall.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=36798&cid=18[/t] I was also pretty mad when I saw how things turned out in the croods
And here's his comment, which I agree with.

A rubber duck floats over her snatch. It looks happy.
dobson's such a great person
There are alot of things wrong with that comic of his posted on the front page. Dudes drawing characters from the Bruce Tim Batman as if that's as if thats somehow an accurate representation of Batman characters in comics. Taking into account this is the same guy who was incredibly anal about Link's hair being blonde shows he really needs to grow up. Like I'm certain he has never read a comic in his lifetime and all his info comes from movies and Bruce Timm's work
To be fair, a lot of people still heavily associate Harley in particular with the Bruce Timm Batman since she originated from there and was only integrated with the actual comics later. It's kind of like how Mr Freeze is also well remembered via his Timm version, because the original comic Freeze was a one-shot gimmicky asshole while the cartoon revamped him into a sympathetic character that everyone else adopted and ran with.
puddin
I know that everyone is upset about the idea of a contest where the entry criteria is "draw this character naked and committing suicide", but I can't stop imagining a Harley Quinn ongoing done by Conner and Palmiotti. Holy shit I'm excited for this.
