My favorite is the Bikini Girl one.
Mostly because she is a real person.

Thin and healthy people don't exist.
I'm surprised they didn't edit Shantae.

Because you know, in real life, a woman that raids tombs wouldn't be incredibly fit. Here's some more of their "realistic redesigns" too.
There's more in the source

Lets be real here, neither body is realistic for a Tomb Raider. The reboot does a really good job of accurate body proportions for an athletic woman.
To be fair, photoshopping existing superheroes and video game characters to fit their standards is kind of silly, and doesn't really contribute to fighting actual eating disorders.
While maybe not all of them, some of the characters they used are either anatomically impossible or would be told they are seriously unwell if a doctor met them. There is real people suffering from real psychological illness that makes them literally starve themselves to death and it's known that the primary reason for it is that the media's image of what's "normal" or desirable is skewered. These people need to be shown that they are fixated on something that's not normal.
This isn't about making fat people feel better, this is about helping people who are likely to literally die of starvation.
You people are saying the models on the right are normal? Normal? Normal.
The models on the left aren't exactly normal either, but you have got to be fucking kidding me if you think those rotund things on the right are normal. Please, I go outside and I see people with Cortana's figure on a day to day basis.

And then you take a close look and notice that despite they had a real person, they made the picture quite a bit thinner.

This proves their point, if anything.
Look at her stomach, look at the curve of her bikini bottom. And even though she's leaning back far more than in the game version, she comes out about as wide.
This is exactly what this is about.
I dont see why people get upset about simple video game models. People dont complain that Snake is too sexy.

this makes me think this is satirical
like.. why?

except if you read the article you would know that's not the model that was used.
Oh wow its pretty awesome you guys missed the big "Bulimia" in the corner there. It's to make people feel better. And I mean here's a bunch of examples why.

She has more pronounced rib-bones, but she isn't thinner.
A lot of people just have really pronounced rib-bones.
I really like these not-stick-figure-thin pictures
There're some... degrees between stick-figure-thin and outright no-bullshit fat. Because those presented are quite fat.

Because no one cares about male aesthetic.

Dad Bod trend confirms this as true.

Well the thing is they said:
We’ve scoured the Internet for fan-favorite video game females, selecting 10 women that are either iconic video game characters from critically acclaimed games or those who we think are particularly egregious examples of unrealistic standards for female video game characters. These characters were then Photoshopped to reflect the average American female body.
And a few of the female characters they show have very normally proportioned bodies, like Jade and Cortana.
This is a shit thread that serves no other purposes than to act as wank material for people who hate the the F word. Get the fuck over yourselves; if this shit is such a bother to you than do what any rational person would do and disregard it.
But that's not how this thread will go down.

That isn't the actual model, that is Kate Upton. The actual model is Shelby Welinder

Since when did everything beyond "average" became "unrealistic".

It's ironic that you are the one to throw THE F WORD in that kind of context (circlejerk). It's almost as if your shit post serves no other purpose than to try and ignite a bunch of garbage and then say "see I knew it would happen and it did!" for you to wank over.
If anything these images represent how those who have eating disorders see themselves ("realistic") compared to how they actually appear. (untouched) This doesn't promote or help a healthy body image.
Both builds might be realistic for a regular woman, but it's not believable for a an athletic treasure hunter. Michelle Yeoh, Cynthia Rothrock, and Moon Lee were more thin and muscular than that.
the fine print on the bottom of every picture says this is a parody.
are we being bamboozled?

No one is making fun of bulimia or making fun of people for being bulimic, they are making fun of stupid people.

Parody of the characters, they said so further down the page.
Might be a parody but i actually love what they did with Tifa

Parody in a legal sense.
I am liking the thicker girls. The ones that don't have fucked up proportions anyway.
Lara Croft doesn't really have a "realistic" figure for what she does, but the main issues are more a lack of muscles and breasts large enough to hinder her acrobatics/get in the way while squeezing through small openings. Both of those discrepancies are left entirely intact while more non-useful bulk is piled on top of it all.
I'm not sure if it's possible to mess up on the her example more badly than this. Maybe remove a limb or something?
[editline]edit[/editline]
And they actively removed muscles from Nabooru, she's the top woman in a race of warrior women what the fuck
Note that most of the characters that they've edited come from stylized games, that use exaggerated proportions to give a character's appearance, well, more character.
But noooooo we gotta critique a cartoon for not having "realistic" proportions
[img_thumb]http://www.bulimia.com/wp-content/themes/bulimia-child/assets/images/video-games-realistic/Nabooru-Legend-of-Zelda.png[/img_thumb]
Real women have six inch noses and jewels embedded directly into their skull.
None of these are realistic to the character. Realistic also =\= fat or "curvy" which most of these have been turned to
