That's odd there was no real vote for this, I may have missed that bit. I highly doubt that a majority of the people in the company voted to make him step down (more likely an extremely vocal minority). Seeing as how the people who don't really give a shit (aka the majority) didn't go on this massive moral crusade around the internet to keep him as CEO.
they protested and he stepped down
they didn't lynch him on a tree you know
Nice, great. Guy forced to quit because of what exactly? He hasn't enforced his opinions on anyone, all he did is donate money to an anti-gay marriage thing. He didn't beat up gay people at workplace or something. Why don't we replace him with an animal fucker too? Would be totally great, right up mozilla's alley.

At what point was this a democratic process like you stated?

are you confused or something?
do you not understand how you're defending his actions as taking part in democracy in our culture and society, and attacking those who also took part in democracy in our culture and society by saying loudly "hey, we respect gay rights, this guy doens't". The company itself realized how this was bad for them and made a decision.
how are the people who he oppressed or wants/ed to oppress in the wrong here?

quoted for posterity.
edit:

Would you say this? If not then why did you say what you said?
At what point was this a democratic process like you stated?
at what point is donating money to anti lgbt groups more 'democratic' than their actions?
Nice, great. Guy forced to quit because of what exactly? He hasn't enforced his opinions on anyone, all he did is donate money to an anti-gay marriage thing. So donating to a law that was designed to actively oppress a minority doesn't count as enforcing his opinions?

Donating to force black people not to be able to be married isn't enforcing your opinion that blacks are untermensch?
At what point was this a democratic process like you stated?
last I checked we had the right to protest, and that's a massive part of what a good democracy is. So you're saying protesting is wrong?
and last I checked, because gays "Have no rights" they are in fact the ones being lynched and bullied
at what point is donating money to anti lgbt groups more 'democratic' than their actions?
People have a right to support groups that also support their ideas? Proposition 8 was on a ballot so I don't see how you can say it isn't a democratic process.
There is a difference between free speech and paying to support laws that would oppress people.
It was six years ago when being anti-gay was a lot more of a social norm and he has apologized since.
People have a right to support groups that also support their ideas? Proposition 8 was on a ballot so I don't see how you can say it isn't a democratic process.
oh, so you the problem is you can't see your own hypocrisy in attacking the opposition for doing the same?
People have a right to support groups that also support their ideas? Proposition 8 was on a ballot so I don't see how you can say it isn't a democratic process.
Yeah, and people have the right to NOT support people who don't support their ideas. You literally defeated your own argument in one sentence.
People have a right to support groups that also support their ideas? Proposition 8 was on a ballot so I don't see how you can say it isn't a democratic process.
Your argument was literally used against itself ALREADY and yet you persist.
oh, so you the problem is you can't see your own hypocrisy in attacking the opposition for doing the same?
Yes I the problem.
On a serious note, you said:
Yep, and they protested against him
they exercised their right to take part in the democratic process.
the only difference is they targeted one man, he targeted all gays.
you see how this goes?
What they did was not democratic.
What he did was democratic.
EDIT
Also keep in mind, no where in this thread did I take a political position. So I don't know why people in this thread are trying to group me in with other people.
Shareholders have made him do it.
Yes I the problem.

Protesting is a tool used in democracy
how is it not clear to you that by protesting they are essentially voting against his leadership?
you're acting as if he had is throat slit or something, or he was threatened with death. What? Companies are not run like democracies in the form of voting booths dude.
Also keep in mind, no where in this thread did I take a political position. So I don't know why people in this thread are trying to group me in with other people.
I won't judge your stance on gays over this of course.
How was what they did not democratic? They expressed their opinions in a public forum to a publicly traded company who made the decision that they didn't want to be fronted by someone who took part in the democratic process to subjugate a group of people.
what they did was democratic, but you oppose it so it wasn't "democratic".
Yes I the problem.

What the fuck are you talking about? Democracy is ruling by the people, you seem to think that democracy takes place 100% in voting booths. What we are doing at this very moment is part of the democratic process.
If we listen to you then everyone would always vote the same way and nothing would ever change because talking and protesting "isn't part of the democratic process"
You blew it this time bud, there's no coming back from that comment.
Protesting is a tool used in democracy

Well if you would read my post that he quoted you would understand but apparently I have to point it out to you:

Democracy is the rule of the majority. Proposition 8 was voted by a majority of the citizens of California, which is contrasted by a vocal minority making a fuss.

Just because they didn't put piece of paper in a ballot box doesn't mean it's not a democratic process.

Is it impossible for you to have a debate without insulting other people?
Well if you would read my post that he quoted you would understand but apparently I have to point it out to you:

You do realize that the CEO is a minority (leader) and that the employees are the majority?
what do you think is going to happen? The states are going to vote on 1 CEO? They have nothing to do with this. The majority here is the employees.

hey now, let's not try and beat him down.

deomcracy is not "rule of the democracy" where the fuck did you get that idea
you live in a republic, not a direct democracy. the republic exists to save the rights of the under represented.
you're literally saying a tyranny of the majority is a good thing.
Is it impossible for you to have a debate without insulting other people?
I always have this problem, I didn't mean to be offensive I just have really coarse language. I really am sorry if I offended you, it was not my intention. Also, reading that sound condescending but I actually mean what I just said. I live in a vulgar world man sorry.
like when me and my buddies debate this if you were in the next room you'd think someone was being murdered, but then we all go out for pizza afterwards. It's just how I talk, how the people around me talk.
You have the right to believe whatever you want.
Just like I have the right to ridicule you for your beliefs.
If you don't want your beliefs to affect how your judged, keep them to yourself.
When you grow up, I hope you learn how many bonuses you get when you get married, like being able to see your loved one in the fucking ER for example.
Yes I'm evil, I'm a child, bla bla etc.
All I'm saying is marriage isn't a right for anyone regardless of sexuality.

Actually a ballot is a direct democracy. And I also live in a Democratic Republic so yeah. Also I never said that the "tyranny of the majority" is a good thing that is what usually ends up happening though.
Is it impossible for you to have a debate without insulting other people?
And is it impossible for you to read proper english?
He never insulted you in that statement. He is confused about where you are coming from as you seem to have no clue what you are talking about.
Also, prop 8 did pass, and was shot down as unconstitutional. So even though it had a majority on it of those who voted it didn't end up being there permanently.
We have protections in place to prevent the very thing you seem to want so much, tyranny of the majority.

Actually a ballot is not direct, it is still an indirect or representative piece, you have the electoral college(Your vote tells a group of people to vote) and the appeals system to basically invalidate the value of that vote you made.
Even if something passes in the US it can still be shot down, due to the checks and balances.
this thread is a wild ride
