Airbuses are shitty anyway
Holy crap, I would've shat my pants repeatedly
why do they always include 1fps "slow-motion" like we didn't see the impact?
I like it when they show something like a big rig plowing through a center divider like 100ft in front of the camera, then replay it in slo mo and highlight the object like you fuckin missed 6 tons of metal careening across the screen
Edited the title to something not so sensationalist.
I bet the people in the behemoth A380 felt nothing.
The National Transportation Safety Board is trying to determine what caused two jets to collide at New York's JFK International Airport Monday evening.
:regd09: Are you fucking serious?
Wow I expect it to tear off the backwing, but damn, planes are built stubborn these days.
Holy shit those things are fucking durable. The wing clipped the edge of the tail fin, and instead of breaking it, it swung the whole plane around.
You can stab through the fuselage of most modern aircraft with a screwdriver, on accident.
:regd09: Are you fucking serious?
was it the fault of ground control? did the a380 veer off it's taxi line? was it pilot fault at error? why had the smaller jet stopped in the path of the a380? can you answer any of those questions? nope? :frog:
Eh minimum damage, they probably got away with less than ten million in repairs.
Eh minimum damage, they probably got away with less than ten million in repairs.
The repairs won't be a problem. But the people in the small plane would've gone into a trauma.
man, A380s are so bloody massive, hope we don't see one of them involved in a proper crash for a very long time.
man, A380s are so bloody massive, hope we don't see one of them involved in a proper crash for a very long time.
or ever
Surprised it hasn't happened sooner. The wingspan on an A380 is about 10 yards short of a Football field
or ever
well, yes, this would be much preferable
I did. The plane did infact collide with the smaller plane. However, it does sound as if the planes collided mid-air.
Nowhere does it mention a mid-air collision, that's just your natural human desire for things to go terribly wrong.
Holy shit those things are fucking durable. The wing clipped the edge of the tail fin, and instead of breaking it, it swung the whole plane around.
They look like shit though, if you look at the side wings, they look very frail
Holy shit those things are fucking durable. The wing clipped the edge of the tail fin, and instead of breaking it, it swung the whole plane around.
not that surprising, considering the airframe has to take massive forces during flight
A380 wing hits tail. Not A380 tail hits wing.
:regd09: Are you fucking serious?
Bad collision model. Darn you source!
Well there goes his no claims bonus.
I wouldn't be surprised if the smaller plane never flew again. These things are brittle, and if the internal structure got damaged, repairing it to pass all these crazy safety limits would be probably more expensive than buying a new one. Only little cracks are enough for that plane to be considered unsuitable for public transport.
And that my son, is how planes reproduce.
