Didn't expect anything else.
In its approach, it's a very original piece of fiction. With rising population and globalized media, bigger opening weekends are kind of expected as in the past the opening dates all around the world were very different: localization, distribution, marketing, contracts, you name it.
Nowadays they tend to do it all synchronized since it creates a far bigger hype. Of course the figures show.
Marketing budgets also skyrocketed, big release or not, solely sales figures don't really show the success. This is a great piece of cinematography but I'll not be impressed by numbers alone.
