Take Two has shut down alternate GTA V multiplayer client and is suing the developers.
Yeah I'm not going to buy any future GTA games unless it has drifting, unacceptable.
Well yeah, if that is what's important to them that is a completely acceptable reaction.
I understand why they did it, but understanding does not mean agreeing. And if people don't agree with this decision they should say so, show displeasure and make their voices heard. If they are still not listened to, not buying games published by TakeTwo to is a good next step. What is the other alternative, just going with what happens?
Deleting game files is a pointless act but I think everyone knows it. Deleting a game and sharing its picture is trying to send a message though and even if that message falls on deaf ears at least people say they tried before punishing the publisher financially.
Any chance of getting a refund on steam if i talk to steam support?

No

use only caps
Take-Two really needs to take five.
Having played GTA since the original and III being my all time favourite (and hating it being called GTA LC), I find it unfair to give Take-Two all the blame Rockstar happily complies with making shit more difficult to mod.
I don't think they have a choice to be honest.

Do we even know that R* is against T2 policy? For all we know they could be in full support and gladly make it mod unfriendly.

If I remember correctly, the devs of GTA-MP claimed that people from Rockstar had no issues with them making their mod. The mod was going well for a while after FiveM first started having issues with Take-Two, but then for some reason, Take-Two decided to shut GTA-MP down as well.

That sucks. Why do so many good dev studios are owned by asshole publishers.
It's a bad idea to continue the project if people are getting sued, I think. It's a really awful situation, especially since R* was pretty open to mods before launch. :disgust:
As i have said, they can not take millions to court, it would not work, even if TK2 spent a good millions of millions of dollars on the court, some will walk free and some will be put in for a day unless they actively just be honest and say its a open project. No revenue was being made off that project so.
Take 2 is cancer. I regret buying GTA V without knowing they were involved. I am not buying any more take 2 products in the future.
Wonder how many people will stop buying Rockstar games, realize that it actually covers a larger spectrum, and go "but but muh games".
This is as big of a deal to boycott something in the games industry as it gets. Literally sending their gestapo over to the dev's houses is fucking crazy

R* has such a huge fanbase they print money. They'd have to be worse than Trump to get a noticeable boycott. Most people don't care about mods or gestapo and just want to play GTA6 or RDR2
This kind of stuff happens with any mmo-type game, and with shark cards it feels like take two is treating it like an mmo. Private servers for those types of games get C&D'd all the time.

Correct, this really only affects PC players which I'm going to make a huge assumption here but are one of R*'s smaller fanbase, with their games being more accessible on console. You're right though, I could care less about all of this hullabaloo and just want to play GTA6 and RDR2.

I'm boycotting Take-Two until XCOM 2 comes out, buying it, and then starting my boycott again
I wanted RP servers on GTA V :(
Back to GTA SA I go I guess.
This is extremely disappointing, GTA multiplayer always was about the fun factor for me, which is lacking in GTA:O
I've been playing GTA multiplayer since the first release of MTA:San Andreas, in like 2005, where you couldn't even leave your car. Yet people still made custom races and gamemodes like cops versus robbers. Then the alternate multiplayer mod SA:MP came around, with custom gamemodes like 300-people deathmatches, battlefield-like conquest gamemodes and super-fun freeroam gamemodes with custom stunting maps and the like. I think the very populair cops & robbers RPG gamemode was released around this point which always has been the true GTA:online for me.
Now we have GTA:online, which is nothing more than an endless grind. It's hard to find people playing non-heist gamemodes like deathmatch, and the default free-roam is nothing more than a deathmatch were people drive around in their tanks which they have grinded hours for. Doing heists with pubs is almost impossible. The worst part about GTA:O is that you can't even host a server with your community ( The facepunch cew ) without carefully organizing a crew session in which you need to personally invite everyone you want to play with. When you normally join up with crew-members you also need to play deathmatch with pubs.
Also progression is very slow and everything you do in freeroam costs money. IMHO GTA:O is nothing more than a failed attempt at making GTA some sort of semi-MMO catered to console players.

Thanks, I'll dock myself one point for incorrect grammar.
haha just modded me 4mil with an injector yesterday. suck my dick Take Two.
//UPDATE//
FiveM is BACK ONLINE!!, it now requires you log-in to social club & that you own a legal version of the game ON SOCIAL CLUB, No luck for steam owners as of yet (If you try playing on a pirated copy or a legit steam copy it wont let you) we don't know if this was at the request of Take2 or if it's just something they have done to try and help the case.
No official word as of yet but at least it's back for now (but only for social club owners)
EDIT: According to mods the lead dev was sued for 'Facilitating piracy' but now that pirates are blocked lets see what happens!
EDIT2: Steam users can now play!

What's the source?
What's the source?

/u/ntauthy has taken down all CitizenFX-related resources after he found out he actually got sued by Take Two. The reason was mainly because he did not do the required efforts to restrict access using pirated copies in the tolerated time window. The related IRC quote has been pasted here.
After this the website, source code server, master server and the main IRC chat channel have been closed down, latter to avoid a massive shitstorm in the chat. The #FiveM IRC channel is still open though as it is not as spammy/populated currently.

but didn't they get shutdown for hooking into social club to begin with?
but didn't they get shutdown for hooking into social club to begin with?
you could login with any social club account.
So the whole reason he got sued was by allowing pirated & banned copies to play together, nothing to do with sharkcards. GG guys on page 1-3.

That was never supposed to be the case but he just never got around to doing the game checks.
I'm also not sure that was the sole reason (more of an excuse to take it to court) as another GTA multiplayer mod got shut down and they never even released (also said they was in contact with r*)
//UPDATE//
Steam versions can now play along with retail owners(All piracy checks are now in place). Not sure if this was a request of T2 but everything seems to be back online (IRC,website, forums etc).
(T2 probably have no court case now as their reasons was 'facilitating piracy')
I just -might- get GTA V for a tenner tops from somewhere. No reason to play GTA:O.
