It'd be a stand off, if we moved into the area the Russians would immediately back off because MAD.
Also, here's a BBC video from the Russian Ambassador:

This has been predicted by them "europe in year 20xx" videos for forever
right because what they have now is so wonderful
"During Putin's first premiership and presidency (1999–2008), real incomes increased by a factor of 2.5, real wages more than tripled; unemployment and poverty more than halved, and the Russians' self-assessed life satisfaction rose significantly.[9] Putin's first presidency was marked by high economic growth: the Russian economy grew for eight straight years, seeing GDP increase by 72% in PPP (as for nominal GDP, 600%)."

Yes it is. Russia is significantly better off than it was post-soviet union and arguing otherwise is intellectual dishonesty bordering on retardation.
FP likes to shit on Putin because off his negative attitude towards LGBT, but whether you like it or not his popularity in Russia is because he salvaged the country after the embarrassing Yeltsin administration. If the only information you are reading on Russia is the western reaction to stuff like the Sochi debacle, of course you are going to think its this cruel dictatorship where people suffer in silence.

The "military on leave" part still bothers the fuck out of me. Well, the whole Russia allowing citizens to travel to Ukraine to fight a war without punishment thing is fucked up, but especially that they're letting their soldiers go there. At least to me..
No they just don't want the Ukrainian Government to 'solve their problem' in the east by denying them that military victory they had nearly achieved.
But that's how this whole thing started. Yanukovych was removed from power and Russia's sphere of influence was weakened, up till now Putin has been unwilling to do what was necessary to reverse that, that might be changing now.
And how am I supposed to believe that without sufficient proof? Or we just trusting blindly to anything anyone has ever said?
All right, I take it back. Of course you always have to take this with a pint of salt, plus constant "probable" word doesn't sound promising. But apart from that, I won't dispute it.
I can only hope Putin will back down eventually.
The probable is only because that weird fuck Putin never officially declares stuff, it's like that kid in the schoolyard thinking if you don't say it it won't be real.

Either you weren't paying attention or you somehow live in a worse school district than LAUSD.
Suuure, it wasn't the combined efforts of the Allied forces that lead to Germany's fall
American education it seems. I've also seen tons of Americans downplaying the part of the French during the American revolution.
Yeah a few years later America showed up and won the war on 2 different sides of the globe
People have simplified the war down to 3 things:
American Money
British Intelligence
Russian Blood (A lot of this)
Of course it's a lot more than the combination of these 3 factors, as well as the contribution of many of the worlds countries that the Axis were defeated.
American education it seems. I've also seen tons of Americans downplaying the part of the French during the American revolution.
It's not that so much that as it is just not thoroughly discussing it. We learn about Lafayette and Von Steuben.
American education it seems. I've also seen tons of Americans downplaying the part of the French during the American revolution.
Hey now don't lump us all together, education in America is up to the state.
Hey now don't lump us all together, education in America is up to the state.
And even if a person is taught it they could already have their mind made up before hand so they refuse to believe anything someone tries to teach them about history.
So After Russia conquers Ukraine, what nation do you think they'll go after next? Me thinks Greece?
Hey now don't lump us all together, education in America is up to the state.
You're probably right, I was just speculating, but it seems a lot of the time somebody has some crazy distorted opinion on the history of wars, it's because of something they learned in school.
If Russia were to invade Ukraine for real, they would go through Kiev in less than 10 hours. Poroshenko is just desperately trying to get West's attention to Ukraine so they'd gather up and defend it.
Except no one will come to Ukraine's aid, except maybe a few neighboring countries, but that's like more ants coming to stand by the ant that's about to be stepped on.
That being said I really doubt Russia wants to annex Ukraine. They probably just want the industrial and economic powerhouse portions. i.e. the parts that were protesting the government.

1st September.
World War II started that day.
Why can't we just arm the Ukrainian Government?
NATO equipment sure beats the hell out of anything the Russians have.
Because that's direct involvement and Russia would not like it and Obama is a coward.
Also, Ukrainian forces are undiscaplined rabble mostly. If they were a professionally trained army like USAF, JIDF, or the AFRF this probably wouldn't have happened.
Or it would have, but Russia and the separatists would have had a lot harder time.
Not that I'm implying Russia's starting a world war, it'd just fit the mood :v:
I don't get it
A lot of things happened 1st of September. Second World War started.
So After Russia conquers Ukraine, what nation do you think they'll go after next? Me thinks Greece?
Why would you think one logically follows the other?
Russia isn't the third Reich. If they do annex any other countries, and I doubt that they will, it would likely be something close by that none of the other world powers are going to give a practical shit about besides a song and dance. Say, Belarus. And that's only likely is Belarus has a similar situation to Ukraine, which they don't.
1st September.

Oh.
Close enough, when we're talking 75 years.
At least the time span between wars like this is getting wider right? 25 years from WWI to WWII, 75 years from WWII to potentially WWIII. If we're lucky and no nukes are involved and the pattern holds true, it'll be 225 years until WWIV
:v:
In Poland it's a pretty big deal, cause, y'know, it got invaded.
What makes this more a legitimate invasion than all the other times Russia has sent troops, supplies and convoys into Ukraine and then denied it?
In Poland it's a pretty big deal, cause, y'know, it got invaded.
But no one cares about Poland

All of you guys rating this post dumb need to get some better context reading.
When I said they haven't denied it, I meant THIS TIME you mongs.
They haven't denied it
They have consistently denied involvement the whole time.
