Can this still be repealed or countered, or is this it?
There's a chance of the reconciliation between the house and senate versions of the bill failing but as I understand it the chances of that don't seem huge.
There is still a chance it won't become law. Call your senators and representatives.
i wonder if there is any religious freedom bullshit in it
I mostly voted for Democrat-NPL and Libertarian in local elections. Voted Trump on the main platform because of gun rights. Either way, ya' can always bugout in the woods when things goto shit.
Thanks for fucking everyone over just so you can run away and go hide in the woods all over some damn guns.
i wonder if there is any religious freedom bullshit in it
"They say it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven, so really we're doing the poor a favor by making it almost impossible for them to be rich! We're the good guys, see?!"
i wonder if there is any religious freedom bullshit in it
I don't know, but there is a bit scribbled in about life beginning at conception.
If you voted Trump, I don't feel any empathy that you now deal with the consequences directly associated with your vote.
I do feel empathy with people who switched earlier because the dude was a snake oil salesman with charisma and lies. People who are only now upset are winguses though
I don't know, but there is a bit scribbled in about life beginning at conception.
Aren't they also repealing the Johnson Amendment?
the tax bill has 69,211 words. it would take a professional reader (200 wpm) 5.77 hours to read the tax bill. not comprehend the bill and think about it, it would take 5.77 hours to just clearly read the words in their head, without breaks. the bill was handed out 7 hours before the final vote was counted.
so we can assume that basically all republican motives are in this bill unless otherwise states that they aren't they're basically trying to 1 shot get all their shit in place all in one move what the fuck lol
so we can assume that basically all republican motives are in this bill unless otherwise states that they aren't they're basically trying to 1 shot get all their shit in place all in one move what the fuck lol
After this, they can't use reconciliation to ram bills through the Senate with only 51 votes for a while, and that means having to, UGH, compromise with Democrats. And at the rate they're going, they're probably going to lose the Senate majority, so you're getting fucked in every hole all at once now while they still can. The Republican Party has spent eight years being the party of No. They don't know how to cooperate anymore, they don't know how to govern, they're just trying to ram through everything they wanted and everything their donor masters demand of them. What the Democrats and their voters want is to be discarded and ignored, they "lost" and they can sit down and be dominated because Trump and Republicans won. It's like a sports rivalry but it's about wrecking the foundations of a major Western nation inhabited by hundreds of millions of people.

Edit: oh and "no more gay marriage"

[editline]2nd December 2017[/editline]
I would honestly not be surprised if some of the scribbles were "girls have cooties" and "no backsies".
Honestly if I wanted to protest the bill I would have secretly snuck some wild shit in the bill like "Legalizing Trumps secret plans on his final solution" and then just scribble obscene bullshit into it its already wildly silly, may as well make it even more stupid
If they're just going to be dipshits and push it through like that with stuff in the margins... couldn't they put basically anything in it?
It always bewilders me how cartoonishly evil the GOP can be, and its even more bewildering that people continue to vote for them
I genuinely wonder if people like chonch and tudd like their government legislatively winging it.
I have long ceased to wonder. I've concluded instead that they lack the self-awareness to reflect upon their choices. It's a very religious sort of fervour, this Trump cult.

I will never sympathize with "gut" voters.

He speaks like someone with a legitimate issue and can never complete a proper coherent thought.

Can this be reverted with dems in power?
People think he has charisma? From day 0 he's always spoken like an absolute moron with a poor grasp of his native language. He speaks like someone with a legitimate issue and can never complete a proper coherent thought.
exactly, he speaks like most of his supporters
Can this be reverted with dems in power?
1. It's not law yet 2. yes, if you have a majority you can do whatever you want.
Anyone know whats fully in the bill yet?
The intent is to provide citizens with a sense of pride and accomplishment for surviving the second great depression.
Nah. Pretty much every single expert tried to warn these people that Trump would be a giant, flaming catastrophe. I will never sympathize with "gut" voters.
I sympathize with Trump supporters in the way I sympathize with Scientologists. They got sucked into a cult and when you get in too deep there's no way out. Trump's camp is just that, a cult. "Don't listen to reason, or facts, or truth, or even outsiders. Listen to me, I'm the unquestionable leader. I will tell you what to think, what to say, what to do. If you question me, you're the enemy and will be punished. Worship me." They need to be held accountable for their actions, of course, but I'm sorry that they got sucked into the cult to begin with. This cult that teaches them to hate people different from them, this cult that promises them everything and instead takes away everything. It's tragic.
Facepunch is always complaining people vote against their self interests, yet when someone says they did, all hell breaks loose :v:
Some people vote against their own interests just because they don't like the daym liburuls. Facepunch doesn't like that. That doesn't mean you can't ever be chastised for voting according to your (in this case, very immediate) self-interests. It's really not hard to understand.
Can you even write something into law that isn't even legible? This seems like a court battle waiting to happen
I've never had a feeling of such strong hopelessness, like I do now. Passing a tax bill that nobody read with additions nobody knows the ramifications. Congress no longer works for the American people. This is just unbelievable. I want to fucking cry I don't know if I can even afford grad school now. Jesus christ man
