I'm curious as to what US intelligence has gathered. This whole situation has me on pins and needles. I can see this turning into a Soviet era style conflict.
Ukrainian president's making a statement as we speak
Here's a summary of Yanukovych's speech so far: He still thinks he's president. He blames bandits and anarchists (backed by non other than the West itself) for the destabilization of Ukraine. He claims that he will not seek support from Russia but when asked for the fourth time what is he going to do about the current opposition (he's really terrible at deflecting questions) he said that he will wait until the situation becomes more convenient for him and he will seek help from "international partners". He states that Ukraine has "no future" because it stopped being Russia's partner and he will not support the early elections organized by the opposition because they're illegal. Oh, yeah, and the protesters are to be blamed for the bloodshed. Either he's delusional or just blatantly corrupt. Nothing new there.

Could you give a more bias summary?
This is bullshit he said I didn't condone russia's actions and wanted ukerain to stay united. Could you give a more bias summary?
I would write something better but he's just using political speech so he's not saying much. He just stresses the fact how much Ukraine loses by breaking ties with Russia. He might give a different view later on but I'm not holding my breath.
Its going to be interesting to see what Yanukovich has/is saying about Crimea since he asked russia to "help with these extremists". I thought this was going to be all over with him running out of the country but if he gets Russia involved things could go downhill really fast since he is technically still the president so he's basically given them permission to invade the country (in a way I guess) Correct me if im wrong though (fact wise not opinion wise) [editline]1st March 2014[/editline] So this is fresh off a news twitter feed from the stream's
*Unidentified warship* blocking entry to #Ukraine Coast Guard base in #Crimea. #Russia denies link pic.twitter.com/eh05tWfoW9 MT @BBCDanielS
The image in question [img_thumb]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bhj4ETvIcAAX69D.jpg[/img_thumb]

He also claimed that the situation in Crimea is a natural reaction of the locals to the unrest in the country. Not much on the military forces there, though.
sent this photo of a Russian warship in Balaklava Bay off the coast of Sevastopol. She says: "We are standing on the coast looking at a single Russian ship. A few locals are watching but tell us that it is quite usual to see this."
ahhh shit: Russian RT, know it's a shitty source, but I'll keep looking.
ahhh shit: Russian RT, know it's a shitty source, but I'll keep looking.
one comment on that article "Yanukovych fellow! Clear at whose instigation it was, but it was cool. Watching the events." that russian way of speaking also holy fuck I can't believe the bullshit Yanukovych is spewing from his mouth. He doesn't deserve anything to do with Ukraine's future
"According to Yanukovych, "it's really the people who survived and were unarmed." "They poured Molotov cocktails, burning them, they were shot from rifles and killed. I apologized to them. Once again I want to reiterate that I apologize to these courageous people who were suffering and innocent "- Yanukovych said at a press conference in Rostov-on-Don.
yeah that doesn't really work now. And also you don't snipe 'courageous' medics either; right?
Would it be safe to say these are VDV?
Some of their gear would make me say no because VDV tends to get the best gear but these guys have PKMs and older tac vests. Naval infantry from Sevastopol is more likely.
hey russia if you could just wait to start shit after my selective service is up that would be cool thanks
