Chelsea Manning 'may sue' over gender dysphoria therapy
This is a huge argument on FP.
Half thinking depression makes you into a non-thinking-gotta-kill-myself monster, the other half thinking that it's less important.
lmao, nobody thinks that. We just recognise that the chances of suicide are massively increased due to bouts of loss of reasoning common in clinical depression.
Are you implying that depression is life-threatening in the same way as an open chest wound?
Are you implying that depression ISNT life threatening?
citation needed please.
people who suffer from gender dysphoria can be suicidal and have little regards towards their own life if they have poor or no access to important resources.
Yes, I personally know this. Between the ages of 2 until I was 6 I lived with an abusive aunt who forced me to pee sitting down, wear dresses and diapers, and had her son rape me on 2 occasions, as well as other horrific things, as a result I have had a life long battle with gender identity that continues until this day. I cannot get the therapy that you call "life saving" apparently unless I go to a federal prison for committing a crime.
i think the point he's trying to make is this:
person with an open chest wound: definitely going to die in the immediate future
person with gender dysphoria: possibly going to die sometime
he said life threatening though
Are you implying that depression ISNT life threatening?
Not in the same was as someone with a serious kidney disease or heart condition.

you say you can't yet i and many other people have gotten gender dysphoria therapy no problem
Not in the same was as someone with a serious kidney disease or heart condition.
why does it matter? they're both possibly very life threatening and should be paid attention to as such. what makes a physical injury/disorder instantaneously more important than a mental one?
you say you can't yet i and many other people have gotten gender dysphoria therapy no problem
Well they don't live in Rockford, Illinois. The state of care in this city is atrocious for many reasons but there being only a single medicare mental healthcare facility that only accepts 8 patients a week and is solely focused on disability cases is the biggest one.
Not in the same was as someone with a serious kidney disease or heart condition.
I honestly dont get your logic here.
If somethings life threatening then its life threatening. It doesnt matter if you die from hanging yourself or die from heart failure. Both end with you dead so both should be treated before they become terminal.

Get the fuck out of illinois, multitude of problems solved

So what your saying is that you're arguing like this because you got turned down from a clinic that didn't have the beds?
Seems pretty damned self centered.
why does it matter? they're both possibly very life threatening and should be paid attention to as such
Except one of them is in need of immediate attention and treatment. The person with a heart condition NEEDS their medication in order to survive. The person who wants gender therapy/treatment does NOT NEED it order to survive.

"mm-hmm, get over it"
what is your preference with placing physical issues over mental ones?
Except one of them is in need of immediate attention and treatment. The person with a heart condition NEEDS their medication in order to survive. The person who wants gender therapy/treatment does NOT NEED it order to survive.
Except they might kill themselves if they don't get it. It's like how alcohol withdrawal can literally kill you.

I'm speaking about my personal experience which no doubt mirrors many at least in my city and probably the whole country. It's a bigger issue than prisoners getting to talk to a therapist.
Except one of them is in need of immediate attention and treatment. The person with a heart condition NEEDS their medication in order to survive. The person who wants gender therapy/treatment does NOT NEED it order to survive.
both often require immediate attention. mental health degradation is often irreversable
i'm not saying one is more important than the other, they're both important.
Except one of them is in need of immediate attention and treatment. The person with a heart condition NEEDS their medication in order to survive. The person who wants gender therapy/treatment does NOT NEED it order to survive.
Ummm.......
Have another analogy.
If I have an asthma attack thats not immediately threatening should I continue playing ball or should I go get that treated.
It doesnt matter if somethings "immediately" life threatening or not. It's still life threatening and I dont understand how YOU dont understand that
Get the fuck out of illinois, multitude of problems solved
Easier said than done when you're poor as fuck. Something frozen has pointed out a few times.
How about try and fix your problem at a federal level, by voting in people who will actually try and stop fucking the poor over? Even if you yourself don't get to experience the results, at least your children or grandchildren might get the joy that is being able to just go to a hospital without taking out 5 loans to pay the visit off.

pretty sure most people who had hormones or therapy ripped away from them if they already had it, or never had the chance to get it in the first place is going to hurt themselves in some way.
I'm speaking about my personal experience which no doubt mirrors many at least in my city and probably the whole country. It's a bigger issue than prisoners getting to talk to a therapist.
Im sure your single anecdote represents a large portion of the country. That however has no relevance whatsoever to the thread unless you happen to life in gitmo.
"mm-hmm, get over it"
I never said or even implied I thought they should just "get over it." I agree they should both be treated, but of course a prison is going to pay more attention to someone who will literally, no question, die if they don't get x, y and z, compared to someone who is possibly going to commit suicide (which is very hard to do in a maximum security prison) if they don't get their gender therapy.

I'll try, but dat negro better start walking out of that state. Because the problems in illinois boil down to "it's fuckin' illinois, it's got ill in the name for a reason".

then what point are you making? that's just common sense. each life threatening illness is going to require different odds and ends to help but they both should be aided by any means

Are you just ignoring everything and posting the same exact reply without any form of rebuttal?
Let me spell it out for you in big bold letters
LIFE THREATENING IS STILL LIFE THREATENING REGARDLESS OF HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE
Someone shouldnt be left in a suicidal state because "lol shes a criminal" or because "muh taxmoney".
Is your goddamned tax money more important then someones life?

It apparently is if your just poor and not a prisoner eh?

Depends, what else could my tax money be used for? I would probably take funding a school over Chelsea's life. Although honestly, I think we should start funding schools privately through Kickstarter.
I don't even know if I think Chels should be in jail in the first place. What exactly did she leak?

stop doing these types of posts. it's literally getting you nowhere.

From what I understand she leaked a lot of things that needed to be leaked, but wasn't careful about what location sensitive data she was leaking. As a result, troop locations and destinations were leaked which could have cost lives.

Holy shit stop trying to make people feel sorry for you. I understand you're poor but the thread aint about you. You keep bringing up you being poor and your experience in Illinois.

Did it cost lives though?
