I hate all our main political parties.
We'll stop bitching about Brown when everyone stops bitching about Thatcher.
It wasn't directed just at the Conservatives; they're just the current example. It's a common trend in politics that i'd like to see change.
And unless i'm very much mistaken, Brown wasn't leader of Labour in the '70s.

Focus on your local MPs and what they'll do to affect you. Looking at politics on a national level can get very frustrating.
Yes, but I mean that they are the conservative party of your government.
I think they're more similar to the Conservative Party of Canada than the Republican Party. The Republican Party tends to be much more conservative. The U.S. lacks a more centrist conservative party.
So do people here tend to support Labour then? It seems you guys hate all the parties.

The only conservative party over here that has even the slightest amount of power is the libertarian party. The republican party, by large, is not conservative, only socially.

In my eyes, siding with a particular party is essentially a case of picking the lesser of a number of evils.

I feel this sums my feelings about the current political system.
If I had to vote for one of the parties, I would probably vote Liberal Democrat (despite being a student)
We need UKIP. It's run by a guy who was conservative and then just realized how fucking stupid they are and left.
Also has Lib Dems and Labour people in there too.
UKIP would finish the UK off, any political party that thinks we should leave the EU is ran by morons and anyone who votes for them should immediately have their vote removed forever.

Get rid of Ed Milliband (or fix him) and I think thing's would be good in the regards of Labour, sure it'll never be the shining days of New Labour but it'll be better than the Tories.
I remember the optimism ... burst of orange.
Exactly this. It likely would have been oh so different.

Labour made a serious mistake electing Ed over David. Eds a bumbling idiot that makes me cringe through the floor whenever he makes a public speech.
The amount of people that harshly criticise Conservatives and David Cameron personally is shocking; especially when it's "Lol conservatives down wiv dem!!!". There's no need for it and for you to be saying such stupid things shows you don't actually read Conservative policies and aims.
I've plans from Labour and Conservatives on dealing with the economy and a range of issues, and it is so obvious that Labour have entirely the wrong idea. All they want to do is give people free money and hope that something nice happens when it really just isn't like that.
Of course, should they have actually won the election they would have just raised taxes on everything instead of making cuts and reorganising things. The Conservatives changed things in a way that cut things that should and could be cut. It's incredibly silly to say they aren't fair.

No I understand the Tories perfectly well, I know very well that they're retarded.

Different people have different notions of 'fairness'.
Labour are traditionally the party that fights for greater economic and social fairness.
Conservatives are traditionally the party the fights to preserve or restore the current system - even if it isn't fair.
People are perfectly valid to criticise the Conservative party is their policies do not fit with that individual's notion of fairness.
The Labour party is a Keynesian party whereas the Conservative party are Classical economic party. Therefore they both have different views on the economy.
The reason why people don't agree with Conservative aims isn't because they haven't read them its just they believe in a different theory.
Politics is built with opposing dialectics - get used to people having different opinions to you.

Tories are historically right-wing and socially (duh) conservative. Both of those = Unfair, in my mind.
this is a song for britain. you need good music, not a tory government.

Are you from the South by any chance?

i thought their policy and aim was exhuming thatcher.
granted she's not dead but she probably still sleeps in a grave.
Are you from the South by any chance?
Hey, that's unfair. I'm from the south, too.
Are you from the South by any chance?
I'm as far south as you can get in Britain and I hate the Conservatives.
Are you from the South by any chance?
Don't bundle me with him, I hate the Tories and I'm as south as you can go.
[editline]4th March 2012[/editline]
Well, as far south as possible without meeting the sea.
Part of the reason the NHS is in crisis is because politicians meddle with it so frequently there is never a chance for it to settle down and work properly. Maybe I was wrong but I thought a key Tory pledge during the elections was 'not to meddle with the NHS'. And now they are implementing the biggest set of reforms in NHS history.
Another reason is because healthcare is incredibly expensive and the NHS budget is too low. I've said it before: we spend significantly less on healthcare than most of Europe and the US, yet the government say it is overspending. They are either idiots or (more likely) just doing this for political gain as usual.
Are you from the South by any chance?
Stereotyping the south, are your from the north by any chance?
I am from the south and vote Labour, or if they have no chance in my constituency I vote whatever party is most likely to keep the Conservatives out of government.
