That's going to be hard to do since we live in a globally dichotomous society based on gender.
The problem with having an icon for the third gender / androgynous / etc. people is: what would it be? I mean, we generally use someone in a pink dress for women, and someone in blue pants and shirt / suit for men. What would we do for androgynous people? Someone in a green tunic?

In general, if you have a dick you go to the male bathroom and if you don't you go to female. If your dressed as male or female though I suppose you could/would go to the other. Just not what they are designed for.
(I mostly know transgenders that don't crossdress though, so that isn't generally what I think of)

It looks like you got it all wrong. He said "You either identify yourself..." meaning you aren't what your genitals dictate but rather what you choose to be. Putting yourself down as transgender goes against the idea of it. You might as well put yourself down as what you want to be.
