Now the schools computer will be even more underpowered, Well, except for my school who still can't afford this.

One thing to keep in mind, is that its ARM. So x86/64 bit programs are a no-go.
Someone is going to at least try and amke an mulation layer. They always try.
Edited: And it always sucks.
HDMI Supports? With a 36" HDMI supported TV this would be great.

It outputs HDMI, so it should work.

Or, since it'll probably be running Linux, just recompile the code. It's usually not a problem, as most of the Linux software I know of and use myself (I know, not everyone use what I use) would compile fine on ARM.
Any specs?

my bad
I want to build on of those, run a personal file server.
I want to build on of those, run a personal file server.
Purpose of a file server is to keep many files right? This will probably have very little space and I am not sure if hooking an hdd will be possible, unless an usb one, in which case it would be slow anyway.
Can we get CE to run on this.

I'm not sure if you're uninformed, dumb or trolling.
I am getting one of these to hook up to my TV and use as a media centre. Fucking brilliant.
The only downside is that all my screens are still VGA and probably having to use weird international plugs.
SSH, no need for a display.
Need a thread in H&S.

it's only got a 100mbit NIC, so a decent USB drive doesn't gimp it THAT much
Debian doesn't have the SSH-server installed by default. Unless I'm missing something.
Having a permanent GUI would be a waste of resources.
besides SSH is checked by default when using the text based installer
Debian doesn't have the SSH-server installed by default. Unless I'm missing something.
I thought it did.
Isn't Ubuntu server available on ARM? I know that was default SSH installation.

Did you even look or what?

Ubuntu is basically just Debian+.
Isn't Ubuntu server available on ARM? I know that was default SSH installation.
Ubuntu isn't supported AFAIK.
"Debian, Fedora and ArchLinux will be supported from the start."

Exactly, but what is your point.
Exactly, but what is your point.
Well If you install Debian without a GUI using the text installer, it automatically checks the "install SSh server" box.
And Debian without a GUI is basically the same as Ubuntu server.
Since Ubuntu server is just like ordinary Ubuntu, except without a GUI and all kinds of useless shit.

Informative, I knew it came with SSH.. why would anybody even install x server on the RPi anyways.
Other then that it comes down to personal preference, I prefer minimal ubuntu server installation due to ease of use, and minor improvements over Debian all around. I'm not the type of person who wants a task to be overly complicated just for the sake of being "pr0".

Obviously to play Quake 3.
But seriously, this is indeed a great device, and I can't wait to see the ton of cool stuff and products that may utilize this. Tiny fileservers with basically just this inside and an external USB 1TB drive on top for just about 130 USD. I can totally see that happening.
This is gonna be my DLNA/Samba server
These things would make good microservers/web servers though. The designer is a genius.
Definitely buying one.

These things would make astoundingly cheap media centers since it can do native H.264
Also composite video out, means you can easily plug this into a TV.
So many awesome things to do with these, such as making a battery operated tablet.
I just remembered, People in my school can barely use windows, There's no way they could ever use Linux
How would you install the OS?
Set it up from another computer on the sd card?
