Why does a president have to be born in the US? Surely it doesn't matter where he's from, provided the public want him.
It's a part of the constitution. (Anything i say isn't relating to obama, as i said before i don't care much, I'm just explaining what the legal stuff is to you.)
It is basically so only U.S Born citizens are president, think of it as internal protection. It's so someone from the outside doesn't get in to power and try to fuck things up i guess. Bad way of explaining it.
In order to be president you have to be...
Only native-born U.S. citizens (or those born abroad, but only to parents who were both citizens of the U.S.) may be president of the United States.
One must also be at least 35 years of age to be president.
Finally, one must live in the United States for at least 14 years to be president, in addition to being a natural-born citizen.
I wonder how much the tea baggers influence foreign opinion of us
Every foreign country thinks that they're a complete joke.
any video of it?
I used to think Revolution, standing up against a Tyrant, Tossing overly priced goods off a ship and into the bay when I heard Tea Party
Now when I hear Teaparty I hear Sarah Palin's voice say How's that Hopey Changey stuff workin' out for ya?
Completely ruined

It is amazing how the media can destroy a group's reputation so badly by simply quoting a single member of the Tea Party. Sure, I strongly dislike Obama, but that doesn't mean I want the man deported and removed of his title of office. I'm sure many tea-partiers would also share my opinion.

Yes, but why do we need that? Just because it's the constitution, doesn't mean it shouldn't be changed.
Why does it matter if they're from America? I mean, sure, they should have lived in America for some amount of time so they can understand the political situation from a first hand view, but they shouldn't have to be born here.
Nationalism is a strong thing, but it's also very descriminatory.

Even though I can agree that some do not share the harsh views of him, I would like to show this.

Don't worry, Fox is praising Tea Baggers as heroes.

Because if you're going to be president of the united states of america you best be from America. Every other country has something similar, it wouldn't be right for someone who immigrated to America to become a president over those who are born in America.

During the writing, the people were still wary of outside influence. With the whole, you know, British thing.
It's the concern that say, a Chinese-born citizen would begin changing laws in favor of how China is, or giving secrets to said country. As was said, it's internal protection.
As much as it doesn't seem necessary now, nobody is going to argue against it. It's one of the weird Constitutional laws that nobody cares enough about to change, and it has worked so far (I guess).

I think it's pretty similar in every other democratic country.
Or no?
I just dislike Obama for cutting the future space programs, that bastard. I laugh at those who says he's a socialist foreign-born Muslim and all that shit.
space exploration is all well and good, but not in the face of a huge financial crisis and the larger issues at hand
People hating on Obama clearly don't understand irony.

*AHEM*
Didn't bush, like, get rid of those? A few years ago I think it was.
Yeeeaaaahhhhh...
space exploration is all well and good, but not in the face of a huge financial crisis and the larger issues at hand
But yet the government handed out money to CEO's so they could just line their pocket with our money.
Would rather give billions to space exploration and science rather then some rich bastard who sits smugly at the top of his building looking down on us.

i never claimed the bailouts were justified

Canada's first Prime Minister was Scottish. Just sayin'
Also a notorious alcoholic. Ahhh living up to stereotypes
Sounds good, deport him.
Sounds good, deport him.
Get out dumb fuck.
space exploration is all well and good, but not in the face of a huge financial crisis and the larger issues at hand
Well, considering the Space Program is one of the few government programs that actually makes a profit and it isn't a heavily financed program compared to the rest, it is a big mistake.

Then why did he increase NASA's budget and just announce plans to continue Orion development and the development of a new heavy booster with the goal of an asteroid flight by 2025 and Mars by the 2030s?
Was everyone wearing white hoods at the meeting?

They're not axing it. We're just not going to the moon, which was a stupid idea when Bush proposed it.
Frankly, I consider "let's go to the moon AGAIN" to be one of Bush's greatest(?) play-pretend "good president" moments.
It's been proved he's a Hawaiin born american. Why is this EVER been in question?
Becuase they are all racists and want the first black president out of office as fast as possible.
Or they don't consider Hawaii a real state.
[editline]10:43PM[/editline]
I wouldn't really either, it isn't all that great.
What is the tea party?

Sums up most of my opinions on Bush's little space ideas.

and frankly, no one cares if you do or not, it's a state, so he's a citizen. people need to quit crying over that.
It truly amazes me at how ignorant some of you can be.
You call generalize the Tea Party, but you accuse them of being racist, which is basically generalizing a race. You call all of them ignorant, while probably not having met a single member. My grandparents are members of the Tea Party and they're some of the most intelligent, hardworking people I know that just want the U.S. to be better for their children and grandchildren. Yes, I do admit there are some rather off balance people in the Tea Party, but it's the exact same way in any other political movement.
So please, before you create a stereotype of them, meet a few in person, don't just read news reports.
