That's depressing. Not the OP, the bit that came after.
It's almost the perfect place to land with the amount of cameras Russia has.
That looks like a movie. I know it's real, but...damn. Looks like a scene from a movie.
why the fuck does everyone have a dash cam in russia anyways?
this is actually a holy shit moment wow holy shit
Imagine by chance, the meteor hit the UVB-76 broadcasting station. :v:
why the fuck does everyone have a dash cam in russia anyways?
I believe it's legislation to prevent insurance fraud and give the government good tapes of young couples fucking on the hood.
why the fuck does everyone have a dash cam in russia anyways?
because everyone in russia is terrible drivers/hit and run
makes insurance claims easy

I think the important question here is why the hell you were on Tumblr looking at Homestuck stuff in the first place.
I believe it's legislation to prevent insurance fraud and give the government good tapes of young couples fucking on the hood.
I've seen many a video of people trying to pull insurance frauds from russia. From trying to jump at a car, backing up into someone else's car,etc

because i read and enjoy homestuck
now get back to flipping shit because russia is under seige by space
apparently uvb76 is not silent, it's just extremely hard to hear right now. it's not audible on any justin.tv streams but running the AM link through VLC you can still hear it, albeit under a whole lot of static.
if the station this is broadcasting from is in a building or under ground, it's possible the meteorite shook some shit up and either loosened some wires, or knocked something out completely.

Yeah it's back up right now, you can download a .plist to stream it from a few different servers at http://uvb-76.net/. Like you said, it's hard to hear right now at -45db so you really have to crank it up. I wish I knew if it was an issue with the repeater or the original broadcast. There was a higher frequency ringing noise ~4.5K about 20 minutes ago when i started listening again but it hasn't happened since.

That was amazing!

It is now known that on February 15, 2013 at 08:25 Universal Time, the asteroid will pass at a distance of 0.0002276 AU (34,050 km; 21,160 mi) from the center-point of Earth,[3] with an uncertainty region of about 0.0000001 AU (15 km; 9.3 mi).
Let's see it's 3:00 EST time here in the US, so converted to EST time 8:25 UT/GMT is apparently 3:25 AM, which is in 25 minutes. So basically the asteroid will pass the center-point of the Earth in 25 minutes, that's pretty amazing when you think about it.
wait no I think I might have gotten the time wrong

Zero fucking reaction. Seriously? I'd be flipping out.
That's something I find silly in all these videos is that no one says anything when this FUCKING METEOR just comes out of the God damn sky and goes flying overhead. You can't assume that shit is just a plane or some aircraft. I wouldn't.
the one thing I'm sceptical of is the fact that there was actually an impact, let alone a sound like what we heard in the first video posted here. It sounded ODDLY like a soundclip of the headcrab rocket pod things from hl2, and sounded way too sharp/nearby for being under that part of the trail. Yes there's the sonic boom that likely hit, but the sounds in a few videos are heavy crashing/destruction sounding, not a sonic boom that happens to bust some windows and set off cars
edit- seeing more footage, yeah I was wrong. Still sounded just like that in the first vid, no?
My friend actually lives in Chelyabinsk, he got his windows shattered :v:
I live in a nearby city, the flash was visible here too

I'm not saying I'm skeptical, I'm just saying it's silly that we have dash cams of this and people are looking at it like "Ah fuck, another day in fucking Russia..."
skip to 40 seconds in, it's not that loud.
Chelyabinsk is notorious for it's people. They wouldn't give a single little fuck if literally mushroom cloud would raise over the horizon.
Also have this, Zink plant supposedly hit by a piece of this thing.
