Apple has not yet even acknowledged the existence of the iPad Mini, but pricing and configuration information for the much-rumored tablet is allegedly already appearing in the inventory system of a consumer electronics giant.
The iPad Mini will come in 16 different memory and wireless configurations, according to an inventory system screenshot obtained by MobileGeeks. The screen capture allegedly comes from the internal inventory system of Media Market, Europe's largest electronics retailer
The page -- in German -- lists pricing for various configurations in euros, presumably with Europe's 19 percent value-added tax already factored into the price. Prices will start at 249 euros ($322) for a Wi-Fi-only 8GB iPad Mini, with other memory configurations of 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB also available. The high-end 64GB cellular version is listed at about $650, presumably with 4G LTE capability.
iPad Mini rumors have been swirling for months, with various sources reporting that the device will feature a 7.85-inch display and go on sale for a price that's far cheaper than Apple's current, larger tablet.
Apple has reportedly already begun mass production of the new tablet, which is expected to be introduced on October 23. However, one Asia news outlet reports that production issues will delay its debut .
Apple has reportedly ordered 10 million units of the unannounced tablet for the fourth quarter, roughly twice what Amazon reportedly ordered for the Kindle Fire for the same quarter.
No confirmation yet, but according to a friend who worked at Media Markt before, their inventory system has the same colour scheme.
Ipad Mini?
An iTouch?
Maybe they're calling Ipod touches Ipad minis as a joke.
I hope they are anyways...
250E to 650E? Seems a bit wide-ranging to be honest.
Then again, if they want the cheap one to have the slightest chance of competing with the Nexus 7...
The nexus 7 is 200-250 euros. Ill stick with that thanks.
lol i love it how the difference of 56GB is 300 euros
This is either a hoax or Apple's about to seriously hurt themselves. These things have a price point that's WAY too fucking close to bigger Ipads and touches.
$320 for 8GB?
I need that "HA HA IM USING THE INTERNET" face. I remember the last rumor saying it was supposed to be $200.
I immediately called shenanigans.
Watch it outsell everything else anyway.
Apple's consumers will eat this shit up either way.
Sad
iPod Touch XL
i'm actually tempted to get this because it suits my needs much better than any android tablet, and an actual ipad is too big for me.
my christmas present to myself for this year is sorted
Devices with non-expandable memory has gotta be one of the biggest consumer tech scams ever. In no universe is 8 (extra) gigabytes of memory worth $100.
No retina display=not any better than any Android tablet. That's the only reason I would buy an iPad.
There's probably some differences other than storage capacity making up the rest of the price increases.
IIRC Ipod touches get better graphical rendering hardware when upgrading.
And keep in mind that SSD's aren't cheap + fitting twice as much in the same amount of space is bound to cost more no matter what.
Of course any argument anyone makes at this point can be shot down by: "No one knows anything about these apart from what we see on the sheet." For all I know it could be a new iPad with the mini connector.
I'm intrigued at the new comedic applications of "Ipad Mini" jokes though

The last iPod touch that got GPU upgrades as well as storage was the 3g. The nand chip on iDevices is pretty much one from a fast USB drive.
iPod Touch XL
Oh shit, Apple's copying Nintendo by selling a bigger version of a device they already make and labeling it XL. Better break out the lawsuits! :downs:
It's this iPad 7in version right?
XL iPod Touch Mini

It's just standard flash memory with standard chip dimensions, same as in any electronic device (USB sticks, phones...). The flash memory circuitry itself is only worth a few dollars, and even in the consumer market expandable memory such as SD cards come at a price of $1 per Gigabyte or less.
You can get a class 10 32 GB SD card for ~30-40 bucks. Manufacturers wouldn't make as much money if they let consumers freely buy third-party memory expansions however, so they've decided to put 3 different memory chips in otherwise identical devices.

Apple has a policy of not caring about cannibal-izing their own product lines.
Also $250 makes perfect sense for a 7.8 inch iPad. It is the likely price because Apple is notorious about never selling at a loss, nor ever making things cheaply, therefore not being able to make a good 200 dollar tablet like Amazon or Google/Asus.

That is one thing I'd like most tech companies to stop doing.
This entire 8<16<32<64 thing is a ripoff. Sort of like when the Galaxy Nexus was 300 dollars because "It has 32 gigs of memory"
Wouldn't that make it an iPod?

That's not the sole reason. The only 32 GB Galaxy Nexus is the CDMA/LTE version on Verizon/Sprint. So technically the one Google sells and the CDMA one are two different phones. I'm not exactly sure how much it actually costs to make one though, and since there was never a 16 GB CDMA version, who knows how much the memory would really change the cost. By the way, it was $300 on contract. The CDMA Nexus is still $550-650 off contract (according to both the Sprint and Verizon sites).
Not to defend Google/Samsung (you GSM users still got ripped off being limited to 16 GB).

How dare you like an Apple product for a perfectly good reason!
Sounds stupid. I'll pass (again.)
