wow
are they taking back their "family plan sharing" thing..? that would suck
[editline]19th June 2013[/editline]
i've heard from others that gamestop has been reporting 3:1 the other way around so idk lol
If I remember right, there was a family sharing thing for the PS3 that turned into an absolute mess. Not sure of the specifics, but one person in a group of 5 could buy a single game and let 4 other people install it. Each person would be able to play that game all the way through without paying for it in any way. They brought the limit down to 2 people in a group.
Then again that could be wrong, but I don't know!

except the ps4 isnt sold out
Day one
The one's that you can buy on there now are ones that will not get sent on release day, and will only be sent when they get the next lot of stock of them after the day one's have shipped.
It's not just Facepunch that hated it, it was the majority of the gaming community as a whole.
The gaming community as in hardcore gamers that know everything about what is going on with gaming.
Gamers like facepunch probably only account for 5-10% of the entire gaming community.
Hope whoever had the idea of always on drm gets fired.

Microsoft has increased their number of day one preorders at least twice according to major nelsons twitter on both amazon and microsoft store.
Since the reveal I haven't had any interest in the Xbone, for good reasons. And after hearing PSN is going to start charging, I've given up on consoles entirely. I've been using PSN for a couple years and I would never pay for such an inconsistent service, I've never been able to get a solid week of using PSN without some random inconvenience or just having it completely go down. Plus the concept of paying for the privilege to access the internet I'm already paying for makes me sick. In summary, it's time to start building a PC.
PS Plus isn't anything like that so why you assume its just paying to access the internet is beyond me
But you aren't wrong or anything to not want to pay for another service, especially if you only plan on using consoles to primarily multiplayer game. It is one of the advantages of the PC, in that it being an open platform means we don't pay for any real service fees, just that someone has to fork over the bill for a dedicated server if thats the kind of game you are playing.

i dont remember this. according to what xbox one announced though, up to eight (?) or so people can play a game without paying for it shared from the original buyer, though obviously one person can play it at a time. like even if you buy it on disc, after its registered to your account, however is setup to share with you can download it, no matter where they are, and play it
uh yeah because they were pushing this horseshit in the first place and only changed it when it became abundantly clear that it was going to heavily effect sales
they didn't have a change of heart and go "oh we're sorry we tried to force that shit on you it's wrong"
ok they still fixed it??
better than it still existing
Microsoft has increased their number of day one preorders at least twice according to major nelsons twitter on both amazon and microsoft store.
Okay?
It still means that PS4 day one consoles have sold out.
Okay?

Because they have less day one supply which doesn't show at all the number of preorders.
Because they have less day one supply which doesn't show at all the number of preorders.
Nope
Even with Xbone's DRM being removed, the PS4 still does everything the Xbone can do, except both better and $100 cheaper.
The PS+ service's benefits are better than the recently added benefits of Live, the PS4 has far better Indie support by being an open platform, you don't have to have PS+ to use all of the ancillary shit like Netflix, plus you don't have the Kinect sensor.
The PS4 is still objectively better than the Xbone at this point. Unless Microsoft comes out with backwards compatibility with 360 games or announces a model that doesn't have a Kinect on it, that is not going to change.
That alone would really make the Xbox One killer and/or relevant for the price point IMO
I know it will never come, but it means we get to sell our 360's and still be able to play 360 games, some of which are a massive library depending on if you were a big 360 user (and there are a lot of them).
I don't know why they can't do some kind of Emulation like the 360 does with Xbox 1 games.
family sharing getting cut blows, GOOD THING STEAM IS IMPLEMENTING IT :)
So is it okay to like the Xbone now?
They must have had horrific pre-orders and changed this stuff so people would actually buy it, not cause its the right thing to do.
as you can see, somewhat excluding the kinect, ms can flip-flop on ANY of that shit as they please at ANY time so that's not necessarily true
That's just the problem, though.
No matter what Microsoft flip-flops on before the release, they still had the original policies in the first place. They can't just wash their hands of what they were planning on doing so easily.
There's no telling what they'll do in the future with all of this shit that they were initially going to do. They say they'll flip on their old policies that everyone complained about, and later on they'll just replace them with worse ones.
The same thing happened with the 360. The 360 was better than the PS3 at launch, but as time went on Microsoft introduced more and more shitty "features" to Live. The Dashboard updates, the emphasis on "social gaming," ads in the Dashboard in a service that we paid for, everything having to do with the Kinect. I loved my 360 when I first bought it, and now it's a hunk of shit to me because of all the crap they added to "improve my experience." There's no telling what'll happen to the One as time goes on because even though they ditched the DRM for PR reasons, the same people are still in charge. They're not as bad today, but who knows what they'll be tomorrow or in a few months?
Sony had a rough start with the PS3, but at least they've never been genuinely offensive. All Sony has to do to "win" is continue to not be completely awful.
Because they have less day one supply which doesn't show at all the number of preorders.
How do you know it means they have less? It could have meant that Microsoft had less but now the increase means they have the same amount of day one consoles as Sony.
Unless you have a legit source on that it's all presumptions.

Completely different architectures.

that's total bs. PS3 has been terrible for its entire lifespan, and theyve done many things to piss off "gamers." do you remember PSN being down for months? do you remember them just getting rid of linux implementation? do you remember them just haphazardly removing backwards compatibility for the sake of more profit on PS3 games?

Assuming ps4 has more preorders then xbox one is also an assumption. Many people bought xbox one preorders from the microsoft store like me.

Wait, so you're trying to say the 31,883 active facepunch users are 5-10% of the gaming community? Do you know how many MILLIONS of gamer's there all over the world?

Not just facepunch but the internet ps4 bandwagon in general.
It comes with the kinect.
So I'm being forced to pay an extra $100 for a piece of hardware I won't ever use but "have to" because the Xbone can't function with out?

Good job reading, smart one.
Gamers like Facepunch.
Basically, you can roll up NeoGAF, /v/ & /vg/, and a good deal of Reddit in there too.
Not just facepunch but the internet ps4 bandwagon in general.
A lot of xbox players are more casual gamers then hardcore in the since that they don't follow gaming news.

I never said they had more pre-orders overall. I am going off the information on amazon, and saying there has been more pre-orders for PS4 on that site, which quite a lot of people use.
