• Microsoft to repeal Xbox One always online/DRM
So I'm being forced to pay an extra $100 for a piece of hardware I won't ever use but "have to" because the Xbone can't function with out?
personally i think it's potentially an important addition. if they didn't force it to come with the console there would be a lot of games that would avoid creative implementation of it simply because only a small percentage of the userbase would have it
Here we have a company that continuously shits on you, makes a few tweaks regarding it's limitations and now all of a sudden we're supposed to lap it up and pretend E3 didn't happen. Get real. The damage has been done.
He's already stated that he pre-ordered before today, so it's pretty safe to presume that he has a very pro-xbox opinion.
Assuming ps4 has more preorders then xbox one is also an assumption. Many people bought xbox one preorders from the microsoft store like me.
Amazon is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, online retailers and so it's a reliable indicator of where consumers are putting their money.
that's total bs. PS3 has been terrible for its entire lifespan, and theyve done many things to piss off "gamers." do you remember PSN being down for months? do you remember them just getting rid of linux implementation? do you remember them just haphazardly removing backwards compatibility for the sake of more profit on PS3 games?
I don't know much about any of those things. I had a 360 this gen. However, looking at the PS3 now and the 360 now, the grass seems a lot greener on the other side of the fence. Removing backwards compatibility is shitty, but at least when the PS3 launched it had it, and it was removed in later models for price reasons. The 360's backwards compatibility was and still is awful. It only played a handful of Xbox games, and the ones it did play it didn't play very well. And when it comes to PSN being down, yeah that's also really shitty, but the PSN being down was not a conscious decision by Sony. Nobody at Sony sat down at a table and said "Let's turn off PSN for a few months." The Xbox DRM is a different story. People got together and planned that shit out. From what you've said, I can guess that Sony's past offenses can be boiled down to accidents and steps necessary for price drops, whereas everything that the 360 has done to piss me off during my time owning it was entirely intentional on Microsoft's part, and everything that upset people about the Xbox One was entirely purposeful as well. Sony offended people with accidents, Microsoft offended them with decisions.
Since the announcement
Yes yes, xbox fanboyism and whatnot, we get it.

It had nothing to do with prices as so much as it did them thinking it would allow them to sell more PS3 games (instead of used PS2 games). PSN drm was a huge failure on Sony's fault. While it was an attack there is no reason credit card info should be accessible ever, etc. These aren't "accidents" they are failures, consequences for poor decisions, bad planning, and not thinking X is as important as it is.
Why is everyone being so dicky about this? It should be 'Oh they actually listened and made the shit right, pretty good I guess' Instead its 'microshit backpedal lol lel shit company xbone still shit' Honestly I don't see anything wrong with it but the price now, or at least worth bitching about to this extent, and I was all for saying fuck the xbox one when its shitty features were announced.
To me this sounds like desperate damage control. There's still a lot wrong with it such as the Kinect requirement and indies not being able to self-publish.
and the fact that it's $100 more than the PS4. Price is the more important issue for consoles

They removed otheros because of an exploit in their coding and instead of fixing it and making it right they removed another launch feature. They sue the shit out of the guy who hacked it because they knew he couldn't defend himself in court. They then proceed to get hacked leavings millions of information compromised because they can't get their shit together and have sound security as one of the bigger companies in the world you would think they would have the assets in place.
Yes yes, xbox fanboyism and whatnot, we get it.
I hate that it comes down to being "fans." That's not what it should be about. The PS4 is a full $100 cheaper and has better services than the Xbox One. It is a better value. Last generation, the Xbox 360 had more games that I wanted to play and had better services in the form of more stable online, better voice quality, and a better controller. I chose the 360 based on value. Saying you're going to buy the Xbox One over the PS4 because you're an Xbox fan is like saying you're going to buy a $20 ice cream cone full of wet dog shit over a $5 ice cream cone full of actual ice cream because you're friends with the guy selling the shit.
it was not for "price reasons," the emulator was purely digital.
The PS3 had PS2 Hardware at the start.
PSN drm was a huge failure on Sony's fault. Wow, ZachPL is a trooper
One problem down, 98 more to go. Good luck, Xbox.
I doubt they would remove the inclusion of the Kinect with the One seeing as that gives some justification on the price point, but I would expect them to make it not need to be connected. Developers can have a notification going "yo we know you have a kinect since you buy an Xbox One. we got these cool features so if you want to try them out plug in your kinect" if they want to not leave anyone that cares out.
It should be mentioned, also, that the controllers use some combination of IR, Visual Spectrum, and RF/802.11 to communicate with the console. Removing the Kinect would remove the ability for the controllers to work.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/JZOCnud.png[/t] harharhar ok sorry
family sharing getting cut blows, GOOD THING STEAM IS IMPLEMENTING IT :)
So is PSN :v:v
It should be mentioned, also, that the controllers use some combination of IR, Visual Spectrum, and RF/802.11 to communicate with the console. Removing the Kinect would remove the ability for the controllers to work.
Mind you, the Kinect that is included with the One is really a 1080p camera with depth perception, a decent microphone, and can do some magical shit to get your heart rate among other things.
Since the announcement
You know it's been like that for days, right? Also to note that every single PS4 console bundles have been on the top 20 sellers list on that site for a while. The launch edition is not even listed because it's completely sold out. Now consider and compare all of those against the only Xbox One in that list.
Great news! A few questions though. Will they keep the 10 person sharing thing? And what does this mean for the countries now?
i don't know what's more pathetic right now, microsoft backpedaling or zachpl's fanboyism.
i don't know what's more pathetic right now, microsoft backpedaling or zachpl's fanboyism.
Pretty sure he is paid by Microsoft, like those redditors, and the reps pulling people out of Wii U lines at Best Buy.
i don't know what's more pathetic right now, microsoft backpedaling or zachpl's fanboyism.
I wonder if ZachPL is one of those people hired by Microsoft to post good things about Xbox. He only posts in Xbox One related threads, has no avatar, no profile comments. I know for years lots of companies have been hiring people to post online about products, it may not be a stretch
Mind you, the Kinect that is included with the One is really a 1080p camera with depth perception, a decent microphone, and can do some magical shit to get your heart rate among other things.
It's also USB, and Microsoft releases drivers for the Kinect for Windows program quite frequently. Really, it's a fantastic little device. Lot of tech crammed into a tiny brick... But the whole NSA thing has really shaken up how people think about that kind of thing.
was I really just fucking ninja'd? [editline]19th June 2013[/editline] and broken automerge?
Great news! A few questions though. Will they keep the 10 person sharing thing? And what does this mean for the countries now?
No and don't know.
Pretty sure he is paid by Microsoft, like those redditors, and the reps pulling people out of Wii U lines at Best Buy.
Wait, he did specifically mention about how he pre-ordered the thing from the Microsoft store too... Sweet mother of god
Wait, he did specifically mention about how he pre-ordered the thing from the Microsoft store too... Sweet mother of god
Didn't he try to pitch the tablet features as not expensive niche gimmicks? IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW EDIT: "Everyone has a tablet." ring a few bells?
Still requires kinect 0/10 will not buy
The PS3 had PS2 Hardware at the start. Steam was hacked a few times, therefore it's shit. Is that the logic at work here?
were you able to play your games online when it was hacked? was any credit card info exposed?
Do not let yourselves tricked! If microsoft went back on this DRM decision, they may get back on it yet again after enough people will fall for it and buy the xbox one! Remember how sony advertised ps3 with support for multiple os's and then after they sold enough ps3's they removed the ability to run other os's on it without caring that many users were using that.
