None of that compares to the shit Microsoft has pulled over the years.
PSN was down because it got hacked, that's something they can't control.
Who gives a fuck about Linux on consoles? The only people actually effected by it's removal weren't even 0.1% of the PS3 userbase.
They removed backwards compatibility because it made the console expensive as hell to manufacture, backwards compatibility was the main reason why it was $599 at launch, the backwards compatibility wasn't even that great anyway it was buggy as hell and didn't work with all games.
that wasn't the reason it was 600 bux wtf it was the blu ray drive and convoluted processor, both of which were ahead of their time, but only one paid off in the long run
Surely the damage has been done though. Take for me example, I've been using the XBOX LIVE service for nearly 6 years and pretty much made my mind up I was not going to make the transition to the new console after the first 5 minutes of their E3 conference. I don't like the direction they're heading. I've seen the 360 slowly deteriorate from gaming to an MLG DORITO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM and I don't want to be apart of that anymore.
This will probably go a long way towards mending their image with most of its audience, particularly those who were dedicated xbox players considering moving to PS4. It's not really a too little too late situation.
Having done this quite early I think they now have the time they need to regain their reputation with consumers, which they'll do and have success on release - though there's no doubt that they have lost customers over this
Do not let yourselves tricked! If microsoft went back on this DRM decision, they may get back on it yet again after enough people will fall for it and buy the xbox one!
Remember how sony advertised ps3 with support for multiple os's and then after they sold enough ps3's they removed the ability to run other os's on it without caring that many users were using that.
No, this is completely different. The amount of shit that they would get,
in fact, I don't even want the think about what would happen if they did that.
its out of the question
Pretty sure he is paid by Microsoft, like those redditors, and the reps pulling people out of Wii U lines at Best Buy.

correct. i've already seen a large group of people say "alright thanks now i'll buy one because i dont like sony consoles anyways"
Still getting a PS4.
well considering the main reason they weren't buying has been taken away, they're going to go back
personally I'm a bit on the edge about this, I don't like the xbox one's way of handling DRM and online connections but I really don't want a rehash of the xbox 360
I want something good and I hope they come up with that
Can someone explain to me what the DRM and online stuff is now? As far as I know, there aren't any checks for anything anymore.
Honestly, my only hope for the Xbox One is that the controller works with PC/They sell a Wired variant.
It looks very ergonomic.

It's probably going to be like the 360 where they sell a USB adapter so you can connect your controller along with wired controllers.
I dare to ask what's more embarrassing for your company.
Going through with the 24 hr always online requirement and looking like an asshole.
Or
Looking like a bunch of headless, limbless, panicked chickens backpedaling like mad.
I liked how you could share your games with your friends or family across the country, but now you can't do it anymore :/

Honestly i think it's great that they have acknowledged that their plan for the xbox one was a shitty one and are working to fix it. Granted, we still don't know what they mean by "the xbox one still requires an internet, but doesn't have to be always online" to me that doesn't sound like they've changed anything. Their way of combating backwards compatibility is still the same as before - buy an xbox 360. In terms of used games and lending, "We are designing Xbox One to enable customers to trade in and resell games. We’ll have more details to share later." You cannot be more vague than that. That isn't a confirmation that you can trade in and resell games at all, but at least they've acknowledged that people don't like the concept of not being able to do those things. Kinect is still required to be on at all times as well. I don't really see what the big deal is about this, as far as i'm concerned they haven't actually changed or confirmed anything other than just acknowledging that "they're working on it"
I'm still getting a PS4, it's just a better value. It's not about being a fanboy, it's about getting more bang for my buck.

Isn't there a thing with the PS3 where your friends can try any games you've purchased and downloaded on the PSN? Basically lending a digital copy of your game to them?
Can someone explain to me what the DRM and online stuff is now? As far as I know, there aren't any checks for anything anymore.
The only online check is a one-time connection when you're setting it up (think iOS' first time setup), after that, going online is completely up to you.
As for used games, no sort of DRM, they can be freely traded/borrowed/sold, exactly as with current gen.

Then that isn't bad at all. A single check once in the lifetime of your console is mostly reasonable.
Still getting a PS4 instead - its still obvious Microsoft don't give a shit about their customers, and are just doing this because of the HUGE backlash.
Now hopefully Msoft doesn't turn back around a year later and starts adding back all of the online drm shit.
Good, good. Gamers won't be fucked over this gen. I'm still not buying one though.
MS is probably still going to have to hear "once a day login", etc up until Xbox One-After-This-One reaches end of life
but at least they pulled their heads out of their asses
It comes with the kinect.
Another reason to buy the PS4 instead.
I was considering buying an Xbox One for Forza 5 before E3, but then E3 happened.
Now I'm... Well, still not buying an Xbox One, because Forza 5 isn't gonna be a big leap over Forza 4. Sure, drivatars sound nice and whatnot, but... No night racing? No weather effects? Seriously? It's 2013...

Which comes with the Playstation Eye... Which is 3D now, actually. So that's cool.
Look, they actually listened to people's complaints and ARE CHANGING HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS.
And you know what? Those same people that cried and posted their funny "kinect is watching you!!" memes on facepunch, 4chan, reddit, and neogaf are not going to buy it anyways because "ugh microsoft! "
Welcome to the world of videogames: Everything's a conspiracy, and any time a company attempts to right wrongs or apologize it's a PR move!

Nope, its $60 separately.

Pretty high then
except the kinect thing is still retarded as hell
according to msoft, i cannot use an xbone in my room because i have <4 feet of clearance between my tv and myself
The Kinect doesn't have to see you for the Xbox to operate. It just needs to be plugged in.
Nope, its $60 separately.
still less than the base xbone lol
Why would the stockholders be upset that they're appeasing to a market that makes up a fair deal of their sales?
Less control.
That means it's harder to guarantee profit.
the damage is already done, and the scars will run deep into this generation
Unless they decide to full on remove all the problems I'll still get a ps4 or wii u
