Quoted my post from the other thread.
shitty analogy
shitty analogy
Twas shitty. Did some research and changed my opinion.
Alright, this is definitely the right decision because it was because
“Furthermore, the university had a rational basis for requiring students to counsel clients without imposing their personal values,” he wrote in a portion of his ruling posted by The Detroit News. “In the case of Ms. Ward, the university determined that she would never change her behavior and would consistently refuse to counsel clients on matters with which she was personally opposed due to her religious beliefs – including homosexual relationships.”
It seems like there was some academic issues after all, and some issues with what she was studying entirely.
Homosexual students have nothing to gayn from a homophobic counselor
“Christian students shouldn’t be expelled for holding to and abiding by their beliefs,” said ADF senior counsel David French. “To reach its decision, the court had to do something that’s never been done in federal court: uphold an extremely broad and vague university speech code.”
So what if it's my believe that being black is wrong? What if it's my believe that being hindu is morally wrong?
Wouldn't her views on homosexuality be more an issue between who ever employers her and herself instead of the university giving the degree?
Degrees are earned. Would you let a surgeon who hates and refuses to treat spleens get a medical degree?
Fox should stop treating this like an attack on Christianity.
Fox should stop.
Fixed.
Sigma when did you get smart? Because I'm starting to agree with your posts.
Sigma when did you get smart? Because I'm starting to agree with your posts.
He has always been smart, you just disagreed with him. Something you need to learn is that differing opinions =/= dumb
How do you know it's not him who has changed? [editline]12:45AM[/editline] Or maybe both of us have changed [editline]12:45AM[/editline] Or maybe it's just me :iiam:
He has always been smart, you just disagreed with him. Something you need to learn is that differing opinions =/= dumb
I love how you are the one saying this.
I love how you are the one saying this.
What did I do
As I read this I was mad at first, it seemed like a bs ruling. But if she couldn't keep her beliefs out of her work, she shouldn't be doing it no matter what the belief is. Counselors are supposed to be neutral on things, opinions don't work out in that kind of work. I'm curious of what made them decide that she would let her beliefs interfere though. Personally I feel homosexuality is morally wrong, but I wouldn't let it affect my work.

Just because she has an opinion doesn't mean it's going to change her counseling, and if it does in the future, let the affected persons deal with it.
Yeah, why is it their place to say that it's going to interfere? Just because she has an opinion doesn't mean it's going to change her counseling, and if it does in the future, let the affected persons deal with it.
:colbert:
Well I'm homosexual, but I don't think people who disagree with me are wrong. People are entitled to their own opinions.
Well I'm homosexual, but I don't think people who disagree with me are wrong. People are entitled to their own opinions.
Not a counselor that would most likely bring it into their job, especially since their job is actually very important for children.
Not a counselor that would most likely bring it into their job, especially since their job is actually very important for children.
Well that's the thing, how do you know she will?
Not a counselor that would most likely bring it into their job, especially since their job is actually very important for children.
it outright says that she was going to bring it into her job
She was removed from the school’s counseling program last year because she refused to counsel homosexual clients.
[editline]07:25PM[/editline]
Sigma when did you get smart? Because I'm starting to agree with your posts.
ur just coming around babe
it outright says that she was going to bring it into her job [editline]07:25PM[/editline] ur just coming around babe
Exaaactly
it outright says that she was going to bring it into her job [editline]07:25PM[/editline] ur just coming around babe
OK, I now agree with this ruling. Fuck, I agree with Sigma-Lamba. The world shall end.
Ok, well teaches me to skim the source material.
Quoted my post from the other thread.
it's nothing like being a marine biologist if you hate fish/squid as said before, it's like being a doctor but refusing to treat black patients- or being a teacher and refusing to teach muslims
It's like being a marine biologist but wanting to kill dolphins
It's like being a marine biologist but wanting to kill dolphins
And being on record for killing dolphins while on the job.
It's like being a marine biologist but wanting to kill dolphins
or being an OBGYN and handling cocks
Yeah, why is it their place to say that it's going to interfere? Just because she has an opinion doesn't mean it's going to change her counseling, and if it does in the future, let the affected persons deal with it.
:geno: That is the most awful logic I have ever heard.
Uh, this court ruling isn't related to her religion? She can't pull freedom of religion when it has to do with her actions about her beliefs. She could've been an atheist who believed strongly against homosexuality, and the ruling would've been the same.

Not sure how much she could pull with it here.
