Has their been any info on how much moot sold it for?
No apparently it was bought with borrowed money :v:
No apparently it was bought with borrowed money :v:
lots of that q&a answers thread was just him playing a ruse to us westerners, but many people aren't seeing it and it's hard to know what is and what isn't true with him

But there dhoukd be a levrl of professionalism wjere needed Would belp if he had a better understanding of the English language He's acquainted, but for ultimate success as a Admin (and developer), i feel that accurate communication with the users somewhat critical Really should stop using the onscreen keyboard
Really should stop using the onscreen keyboard
Alternatively, you could read up on this certain button called "backspace"

I think he really is just out of touch with the community he bought on borrowed money.
I have no reason to believe he was rusing anyone. I think he really is just out of touch with the community he bought on borrowed money.
Why do you have any reason to believe he doesn't understand the community he paid money to buy? I don't understand most of the sentiment in this thread and online in general. It is not like 4chan is a big black box of mystery that is very difficult to follow and understand. And it is not like he is a completely clueless 50+ investment banker who acquired 4chan to diversify his portfolio. He might not be aware of every fad that starts up and dies on 4chan, but that is not the point anyway.

I think it's kinda nutty to assume he's doing it as a joke. What sense does that make?

It is not like he had no access to 4chan all these years and you don't have to be western to understand what 4chan is. Apart from the silly questions that got silly answers that q&a was pretty informative and showed how much he wanted to work with the community, no?

He doesn't even seem sure of what boards are on 4chan. Or even what generals are.

He has not been paying attention to it.
i hope he posts this is sparta and imma firin mah lazor as well
He probably would if he remembered 4chan is an imageboard and not a textboard like 2ch.

I highly doubt that he bought 4chan, even if for a small sum of money, without him having any knowledge regarding 4chan and it's culture.
he finally learned how to embed a image
tbh this guy seems pretty harmless, and his posts are way funnier to read than anything moot has ever said
If any of this is true:
Things to know: * 'Hiroyuki' recently purchased 4chan from Moot. * 'Hottolink' is a Japanese big data analytics and data mining company. They specialize in mining and selling the data behind social media, blogs, and bbs/forums. They currently only provide service to Japanese and Chinese companies, utilizing data from 2ch, twitter, weibo, blogs, etc. Services they provide are product performance analysis and marketing solutions based on social media data. * 'Niconico Douga' is Japan's equivalent of youtube. Hiroyuki is some kind of employed with their project. Hiroyuki's company Brazil Future Search provides the search solution for Niconico douga. * '2ch.sc' is Hiroyuki's pirate site of 2ch.net. Hiroyuki made 2ch.sc to fulfill his contracts to Hottolink which provides him with millions of USD per annum according to Hottolink's published financial report[1]. * 'Brazil Future Search' is Hiroyuki's search engine company specializing in real-time search solutions. They currently provide search for Niconico Douga and 2ch.sc and others. * 'Effyis' is a company that runs boardreader.com. They were recently bought out by Hottolink as the first expansion into the US market. How Hiroyuki will sell 4chan data: Step 1: Brazil Future Search will make a real-time search engine for 4chan text data only. They will forgo images because images are not important in data mining. Step 2: The new 4chan search engine will provide data to Effyis (boardreader.com). Step 3: Boardreader.com will add 4chan search to their board search. Step 4: Effyis (boardreader.com) will provide a firehose of data to Hottolink (their parent company) to use in data mining. Step 5: American companies will begin purchasing analytics data from Hottolink. Step 6: There is no step 6, you have already had your data sold to the highest bidder. After Hiroyuki's initial announcement of purchasing 4chan, Hottolink stock has risen 60 points. This is likely due to insider trading; Hottolink has yet to publicly announce anything regarding 4chan. You can read Hottolink's strategy in their published English financial report: [1] http://www.hottolink.co.jp/pdf/english/ir20150828.pdf Good day.
Then he's not so harmless.
If any of this is true: Then he's not so harmless.
I don't call search analytics user data
If any of this is true: Then he's not so harmless.
https://archive.moe/ Here's something that has already done it. If you mean other data, there's not much. Gold accounts are not handled by 4chan. Only thing you can sell is shitposting.
I have no reason to believe he was rusing anyone. I think he really is just out of touch with the community he bought on borrowed money.
A number of Japanese posters (who speak better English and posted on 2ch) claim that he's far smarter and much better at English than what the q&a indicates and he's doing this so the community lets its guard down, but I'm not so sure.

I'm suspicious of him, but I'm going to wait to see what he does.
