so hey hypothetically if i were running an illegitimate version of windows what happens if i click this this post is a joke i don't have a pirated windows 8 you schmucks
I'm conflicted because I'm very comfortable with Windows 7 and I hear Windows 10 keeps a lot of features from Windows 8 (which looks like it was designed for tablets, not desktops), but at the same time this is a free OS and I'll eventually have to upgrade.
I've actually come to like Windows 8 and the start menu. The only thing I don't like with Win 8, and I mean really don't like, is that when opening a file like a PDF, sometimes it will open up a separate app like a mobile OS (outside of the desktop) instead of just leaving it as a window in the desktop. I forgot what that feature was called, but I've heard it won't return in Win 10 thank god. And I also use a Surface Pro 3 and love the touch and tablet functionality of it so anything that supports touch screen more I definitely support.
You're admitting to Warez come on dude.
It's only a hypothesis I have a legal copy, but I also want to know but hey, I heard Windows was a linux distro :j
so hey hypothetically if i were running an illegitimate version of windows what happens if i click this
Chances are whatever crack you'd be using would be incompatible with Win10. The installation would probably finish, and you'd get Win10, but you'd get a warning in the bottom right corner saying that windows is not activated and some features would be unavailable.

I want my reservation. Cmon gimme.
Does anyone know if it will "invalidate" your current Windows 7/8/8.1 key once you upgrade? I'd like to keep a copy of Windows 7 just in case my finicky ass hardware decides to not work with Windows 10, without having to buy another key.

Ergo this means to me that retail upgrade version doesn't negate the right of a full retail previous version to be transferred to another machine. Thus, the older full retail version can be legitimately installed on a Mac with Boot Camp or in a virtual machine. Whether it is allowed as a dual boot with the newer version is unclear to me though.Interestingly his discussion of the OEM licenses really floored me when says OEM licenses cannot be restored to replacement motherboards that you personally install; only the OEM has the right to do that for you without a new license. Ah, was wondering what the Windows icon in my taskbar was. Neato.
Here are the patch notes: https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/kb/3035583
I wish my PC could update without breaking itself constantly, forcing me to never update now.. I just want Windows 8.1 or 10 :suicide:
I feel your pain, trying to update to 8.1 makes me blue screen and need a restore from clean media.
I was originally planning on dual booting w7 and w9 but ummm frankly fuck that the current "Format/installation" I have of w7 has been really nice, I've kept it cleaner than usual of useless programs and it's running pretty alright when I get w9 though there is a ton of crap I won't hesitate to remove
ftfy
I'm going to make my wallpaper say windows 9 and post it on "Post your wallpaper" to see if it bothers people
For anyone who asked how it is, i've been using it for nearly 7 months and even back then it was easily the best Windows OS to date.
Holy shit, people are complaining about the free upgrade notification?
I just recently bought an SSD, is it time bros?
tbh I think the biggest reason they're doing this is... look at all the nerdlords still using xp even today for personal home use eventually 7 is going to be as terrible an OS choice as XP is, it's slowly and surely showing its agemarks. going from 7 to 8.1 to 7 because of hardware incompatibilities was a bummer. once 7 is so out of date that it's unreasonable to use a bunch of you are going to be real idiots about it, but you have a chance to upgrade.
You're admitting to Warez come on dude.
I'd like to know because despite having a legit copy that has worked fine since 2010, a recent disc check or something similar has made it think it's not genuine. I've got the icon and everything, but it might complain somewhere down the line. It probably just needs a good format and if it's an option, I'll use the Windows 10 update to do so.
I'm going to make my wallpaper say windows 9 and post it on "Post your wallpaper" to see if it bothers people
Someone already done that [t]http://i.ytimg.com/vi/GhYPMn8PdM0/maxresdefault.jpg[/t]
Someone already done that [t]http://i.ytimg.com/vi/GhYPMn8PdM0/maxresdefault.jpg[/t]
then I'll name it 8.2
Holy shit, people are complaining about the free upgrade notification?
People are fussy about software appearing without their approval. Personally I don't mind, but there would have been nothing wrong with releasing a download utility. It's all about marketing.
Im not even seeing the notification on win7 (Fully updated) Edit: I'm seeing it now.
I just went to the Q&A page... Windows 10 is coming on 29 July 2015. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/windows-10-faq
Will I get an handy iso file, rather do a fresh install than upgrading.
