what country is this [editline]6th July 2013[/editline] cause it isn't clear enough
Liberia.
They provide housing owned by the council (local government) to people who can't afford to rent or buy elsewhere.
Actually, the housing is owned by the housing association, not the council (although both are considered 'social housing'), and essentially living in one is like living in council housing, but in the end of the day they are a private landlord and as long the rules they set aren't discriminatory (e.g only banning certain types of flags) then there isn't much you can do about it.
Well, it does look rather tacky.
Take this food for thought, patriotic Americans. I tried hanging an English flag on a small pole for a while, our housing association then threatened to evict us from the property if we didn't remove it, as it was 'offending and intimidating' neighbours. This news story is very relevant to this. I have no clue what's going on with this backward-ass country anymore, I always believed that 'if you don't like the team, get out of the stadium' but currently there's maybe 1 in 200 people who hang an English flag down in Devon because they're too scared to put them up. Both the council and housing associations are guilty of this - I don't see how being patriotic for your own country can be considered racist. /rant
I don't get this in the slightest. Most people put up those flags for shit like football, what's wrong with that? If I see a flag while walking down the street I'll think "Hey, they support England" or something like that. Not something like "Oh god thugs live there, I feel threatened". Banning them is over the top, in my opinion, and I don't see how this is going to make things any better.
Probably trying to appease the foreigners.
"Huah Huah Huah!" Screams Charchar, spinning around in his computer chair. He twiddles his pencil moustache and adjusts his cape, snickering with glee at his sheerly devious plan. "I shall stir up a nightmare by blaming the FOREIGNERS! NyE-HE-HE!" He stands up and exclaims praise to the heavens for gracing him with this thought, the epic troll and burn to destroy facepunch once and forever more.
Because, at least in Essex, the only people who hang flags out of the window are likely to go and start fights in pubs and clubs if Millwall win a game.
And banning hanging flags out of windows is gonna change this how?
And banning hanging flags out of windows is gonna change this how?
They don't want their houses looking like a run down council estate. It lowers their value and loses them money.
They don't want their houses looking like a run down council estate. It lowers their value and loses them money.
I think you don't understand the question. How does banning hanging flags out of windows change the way those people behave that start fights in pubs and clubs if Millwall wins a game? At least they are not easily visible by the way they show their flags. If you wanna solve a problem, find out its root and take measures to get rid of it. The only thing this banning will succeed in is making these people more angry, and might even make them join naziesque groups.
The only thing this banning will succeed in is making these people more angry, and might even make them join naziesque groups.
This has been pretty standard Housing Association stuff since the beginning of housing associations. They're a lot more banhappy and twatty over more important stuff anyway like smoking or keeping pets. No one has joined naziesque groups over it before so no need to develop this victim complex.
Probably because of all the anti-muslim stuff that's been happening, hanging a flag out of your window for no reason could look like you're supporting it
So hanging the Flag of England outside your window makes you anti muslim now? And I thought the U.S. was being overrun by overly sensitive suburban moms.
