With how this shit is going, it's only a matter of time before something boils over. God help us all when it does.
true that, but it really does surprise me that the practice isn't banned over the whole country
it sorta gives the impression that most americans are ambivalent or accepting of the practice, especially when this dude saw nothing wrong with what he was doing
More likely that in most places it's never been an issue so it hasn't been banned because that takes time, effort, and money. (As well as the foresight to predict it becoming an issue as well.) Even back with Bush Jr.'s original election which was pretty controversial there weren't widespread issues like this.
This reminds me of the Slovak neo-nazi party arbitrarily putting ad-hoc patrols on trains the other day.

Fun.
I hope this is like the Olympics, really overhyped but not overtly as bad as predicted.
there's been dozens of news articles in the past few weeks that have been talking about numerous instances of voter intimidation
the fucking presidential candidate claims the election is rigged and is directly encouraging his supporters to go out and intimidate voters
american democracy is under a lot of stress right now and to ignore that is extremely disingenuous because over the past year i've seen a lot from this campaign and the insane politicians and their fucked-in-the-head supporters which would indicate america is sliding towards a very ugly place that is typically reserved for banana republics
Banana republic? Sweet. I'll get the plane warmed up, you grab the political prisoners.
Any idea if we can make time to liberate las islas Malvinas next week?
No gun's rights advocate should look at this and go "well it was legal so it's okay."
Using a firearm to intimidate anyone else, even just by displaying it in certain contexts, is improper firearm use. End of. Sure, you have a legal right to carry a firearm, but once you strap a Colt to your hip and start blocking doorways and asking questions about voter choice, you're no longer a responsible gun owner. If you have a concealed carry license and don't bother or threaten anyone else with your firearm in public, congratulations, you're responsible.
I'm tired of the "well it's technically legal so who cares" bullshit coming from the Trump camp. It's a cheap excuse for obviously inexcusable behavior. This is voter intimidation and irresponsible gun ownership, plain and simple - and Trump's actively calling for this to happen in order to undermine the legitimacy of American elections.
voter intimidation of any sort should be outlawed and punished. its no better than voter fraud
BLM and black panther did this before. No one should condone it and it is despicable.
man, tuesday is gonna be wild.
Because one redneck handing out pamphlets is somehow equivalent to nationwide media and party collusion? lol
So you think Clinton is rigging the general?
I can already see the headline
"Election Day Massacre 2016"

Think he means that one person does not equal the trump and Republican platform
Think he means that one person does not equal the trump and Republican platform
The nominee who has called for violence against his opponent yeah
Despicable. Trying to intimdate voters just because you dont like how they are voting is awful and that man should be in prison.
But this is going to happen. Trump has asked for ""poll watchers"" who I fear are going to engage in mass voter intidation to avoid a so called ""rigged"" election.

More reason to be glad to have voted early. Was also really quick too, just walked in, no line, handed my ID, and was told to go to a booth. In and out in about 5 minutes
Actually gonna be voting today now that I have my wallet and my id. I wanna beat the lines tommorow.
I just hope this is a isolated incident

It's even worse.
In Loudoun County, Virginia
Lmao fuck my area.
[editline]7th November 2016[/editline]
Open carry laws vary from state to state. Virginia's one of the ones that permits it and doesn't require a license. Virginia's also south of the Mason-Dixon line, if that explains anything.
He was clearly interfering with the election process, however. I don't know why the police didn't snatch him up.
Loudoun County is south of the Mason-Dixon line almost as little as it's possible to be, though. I can dip my toe in Maryland at work and anyone who tells you Maryland is southern is lying. Northern Virginia is extremely different than the rest of it.
It's mostly just full of assholes with more money than sense.
Great source dude, that article sure doesn't look like quickly written garbage.

Really hoping not. It'll be the darkest day in US history since 9/11

here's a better source for the article.

It is kind of illegal. You're not supposed to stand by places where people vote who they should vote for, and you can't have news media 50 feet from the entrance or have the TV on news channels because bias is involved. The decision to vote is for the individual alone. A guy with a weapon telling you to vote for Trump is no different.
Remember kids, don't go outside, that's where the wackos take their smoke breaks.
If I see anything like this going down when I go to vote tomorrow, I'll stick around the entire day so I can watch the watchmen, as it were (unarmed, of course - I do not own firearms). I have the phone numbers for both the DNC and the NAACP election hotlines at the ready, and unlimited voice minutes. Plus I've done enough research to know exactly what law would be broken (18 USC Section 594), what the penalties are (1 year imprisonment plus fines plus losing all their guns), who would investigate it (FBI, not local or state police), and how seriously they take it (very).

I live in Northern VA as well and it really is such a weird little bubble of a place.
Jesus are we in Gangs of New York: 2016 Edition here?
If you've got a school available as a polling place it might be nice if you're concerned about running into these people. Even though I live in Texas, and our colleges/universities are required to allow students to conceal carry, they still can't openly carry guns.

Something people fail to recognize is that Texas is actually pretty restrictive on carrying, especially openly.
IIRC having your holster exposed while carrying concealed can net you a hefty fine.
