That's a fairly recent image of him and the frescoes and icons of europeanized jesus have had a longer-lasting impact on his image at least in the christian circles than the scientific estimate on what he probably would've looked like given the ethnic makeup of the region at the time. The whole "european jesus" thing is kind of silly but since there hasn't been any "definite" face of jesus many cultures have adopted an image of him that appeals to them like IIRC in Ethiopia among christians there it's popular to depict Jesus as a black african-like figure even if it might be scientifically as inaccurate as the europeanized version.
I don't get it. I see people who look like Jesus walking down the street [I]every single day[/I] and they've never had a problem. It seems to be a pretty popular look.

The Arabs didn't live in Judea at the time. In fact no Arabs settled there in any significant numbers up until the 7th-8th centuries.
