This is a real wishgranter ending :crying: We all wanted Stalker 2 so bad, they worked for it and worked for it. And we'll get it, but it won't be what we expected. Will it be good? I really really hope so, I don't want to be crushed under a warehouse roof.
TF2 is the best example of why F2P blooooows. If you wanted a game you can start playing today without balance issues because not everybody has every weapon, then you should go look somewhere else. I hate this idea that it gets a free pass because you "can" get everything for free, if you wait like a fucking idiot for random drops. I really don't get why people want to play games like this. Why is it appealing to have to wait, then fuck around with trading, and even when you have everything yourself, other people don't. I hate this concept of the steam inventory and items. Now you can't just play TF2, you HAVE to deal with all this stuff. It also opens up for bullshit like promotional items. Not to mention crates are pretty manipulative, everybody at some point will fall for this kind of thing, whether it's TF2 or something else. At this point I really have no hope for dota 2.
The problem with your argument is that TF2 has tons of weapons for every class, and very few of them are straight upgrades like most other F2P games do. Its not DEMOMAN - Bottle: 75 damage. Paintrain: 125 damage. NEXT LEVEL: Eyelander: 200 damage. You may have to wait for a small time to get a desired weapon, but that's as far as it goes. There's no weeklong grind for a mega-weapon or any of that shit. 95% of TF2's items can be crafted or gotten by drops or traded for. It's hilariously easy to get a weapon you want, and if you can't then you must have the patience of a child. This is the big difference between most other F2P games. It's not pay to win. And then, Valve has not charged for a single update. They don't ask a penny from you for the multiple new gamemodes and maps they have added. The TF2 team truly does care about their game. They've worked on the Meet The: videos along with the comics, and other website updates. Not to mention the other crazy things like Replay and the Saxxy Awards. You NEVER see this kind of active involvement with the community, which is why Valve is a great company that makes great games.
Stalker 1 was great, just need to patch it out and it'll work fine. Clear Sky was okay, COP was shit. Could of done better and fixed more bugs. Anyway, now we got this MMO that maybe no one will play. It's free to play when you buy it? no pay fee? It's a question dumb asses down the bottom you two are jerks. :p
I actually liked CoP more than Clear Sky vanilla. It was way more polished, the English voice acting was god awful though but everything else was pretty good. It's biggest issue was that it was easy as all fuck though, you pretty much get the best weapons and armour at the start of the game from Nimble and you're done.
Once again the Bandwagon effect throws half of facepunch into a fit of "omg free2play so bad".
It will suck. Please stop buying anything with the F2P model. It is ruining the industry.
I never liked those, never will.
Once again the Bandwagon effect throws half of facepunch into a fit of "omg free2play so bad".
"PEOPLE AGREEING WITH EACH OTHER? MUST BE A BANDWAGON."
Once again the Bandwagon effect throws half of facepunch into a fit of "omg free2play so bad".
rofl 10/10 argument by following "people just on a bandwagon" bandwagon seriously haven't seen that before
It is a bandwagon and we all know it. F2P isnt an issue, its the companies. Valve has its behemoth TF2 as f2p, and its still one of the finest titles of this decade. Tribes Ascend is also a good example of a good f2p game. Guild Wars? Same, even if you had to pay for the game itself. I could list tons more of great, successful F2P titles. The company making it has proven that it's devoted to its customers. More likely than not, it'll be fine.
Such is life in the zone. :suicide:

F2P/non-F2P give companies different frameworks to move in, one can be bigger than the other, make it easier for the companyu to succeed.
I would rather have to buy a game once rather than a subscription. So I guess I might be able to stand a free to play stalker mmo.
It's both, I can list you tons of other examples to contradict you. F2P/non-F2P give companies different frameworks to move in, one can be bigger than the other, make it easier for the companyu to succeed.
but in the end it boils down to how shitty the company is. A company like GamersFirst will try to squeeze a ton of money out of the game by making you need to pay for guns and the such, while a company like Valve will say "dude it's a free game, so you obviously don't need to pay to win, have fun!" and only have paying as an OPTION to advance, you can easily get everything in the store for free (except keys). Sure you can list a ton of examples of bad f2p games, but they're probably run by awful companies that are only in it for the money. Combat Arms though, does anyone remember that shit? Was Pay2Win to the max, but holy shit was it fun.
stalker is highly overrated
Yeah a game lots of people like is overrated.... DERP.
Stalker wasn't that great anyway :v:
I love it when Facepunch spams someone with dumbs for having an opinion that differs from public opinion. :v:
Too many dumbs, meaning they don't care about your opinion. I wonder why... hmmm....
It's going to be Stalker, but without the name Stalker, and I bet that there's going to be a whole lot of Stalker jokes, like "Hey, I think some Russian guys are stalking us. They're in those bushes drinking vodka, playing inventory tetris." edit: Because tetris is a Russian game, lol. Get it?
