• UK technology classes 'out of date'

In my IT College Course, we're using like, 7 year old computers that can't even fucking run Java. It takes 10 minutes to render a PNG file in Photoshop.
At my school the GCSE ICT course hasn't been updated in 10 years
Not only in the UK, we have to learn fucking TurboPascal here
My school still uses IE6, except for like 5 computers in the entire school that seemed to have IE8 since yesterday, though these are the only five computers that let you install chrome. My school's web design course, the teacher just had you searching google for "salary of web designer" and didn't teach us a THING. One lesson I was showing my friend basic HTML, and the teacher saw and commented "you'll have to show me some of that!". My school's programming course uses an out-of-date version VB.net, which is a step up above javascript I guess.
Worst thing for me is in my schools IT class, we have this old indian guy who is so stuck in his way, we need a young fresh teacher who is up with current trends, this old fart wouldn't even consider foreign things such as office 2007/2010
I have yet to see classes which keep up with the technology and aren't taught in colleges. For past year I've been taught that a CD is a wonderful new data storage device and in future we may get DVDs...
A lot of schools are still fucking running Windows XP, jesus. How about they start there?
Same issue with my old school. Started off with using basic programs to instruct computers on what to do, like after so many seconds open this or close that etc. Then we went onto dreamweaver and flash 8 in the next year, new management came in and we went backwards into using excel spreadsheets, powerpoint and word on office 2003. I complained and the head of IT just screamed in my face after I clearly pointed out to him that their web guard had blocked a charity website under the most stupid reason ever; terrorism. That charity was Red Nose Day... They took my internet access away for it as well. Oh and it took them 3 years to block us from using customized backgrounds.
My junior school was still using Acorn RiscOS machines. In 2006. In fact, in 05, they upgraded half of the school to Windows 2000. There's a real issue with technology maintenance in UK schools, and it's probably going to get worse before it gets better (what with budget cuts). People are learning how to use something that's already 3-5 years out of date even before they start.
Ye Olde England.
