Here's the graph from that thread - California is pretty low on the list.
All the border states are in the bottom due to high immigration. The border states get large labor forces because of everyone flooding into them thus putting us on the lower parts of that list. I remember that thread.
Looks like I might be able to get a job.
People in the tech world have been posting, basically everywhere it seems, that there's a lot of job openings recently for software developers, that's probably why they have so much growth as it stands. That and maybe medical marijuana dispensaries but with all the raids going on I don't see people lining up to get into that industry.
Make sure you buy a raincoat, and unemployment insurance.
I love the rain, and they have more jobs than CA, so what's the loss?
269,500 jobs created in Texas? I really need to move to Texas, there's no jobs anywhere here in North Carolina and places are starting to shut down, I'm starting to feel like the state is falling apart.
Texas has a fairly large amount of problems, don't be fooled by those numbers. Texas still has a 8-9 percent unemployment rate. Also depends in what area of the state you live in, a lot of places are not hiring.
Explain Illinois.
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1117847?p=31792491&viewfull=1#post31792491 The map in this thead correspeonds fairly well with the chart, though it is from 2003. I'll post it here for people not willing to click a link: [editline]6th September 2011[/editline]
Yeah, because Illinois, Tennessee, and Virginia are so border states, right?
Tennessee and Virginia (as well as the others) probably have problems with hiring that have nothing to do with immigration. I'm just claiming that immigration takes a part in increasing the labor force, thus altering the job growth because you're getting more people than you can hire in a month, even if you're hiring thousands of people a month, you can't keep up with the growth. Though I haven't checked up on recent immigration statistic for the border states. [editline]6th September 2011[/editline] While the map only shows "Immigrants as part of State population" it can be assumed that the immigration rate for said states is higher than states that don't have a high immigrant population.
Here in CT in the Groton Stonington area, all of the factories on the Thames and the Connecticut rivers are being shut down and outsourced. It really sucks.

Dispensaries?
Yeah, Texas being top is kind of a cheat, because they lost more more jobs than anyone else as well.
That map is of legitimate immigration, not illegal immigration.
I never even said anything about illegal immigration.
The fuck? I live in michigan and they're firing teenagers from teenage jobs so that older people with families can come in and work them.
The only reason Texas has negative job growth is because we have the largest boarder to Mexico. *shrug* Stay out of mah Austin.
The only reason Texas has negative job growth is because we have the largest boarder to Mexico. *shrug*
Would you say that immigration is a bad thing?
The only reason Texas has negative job growth is because we have the largest boarder to Mexico. *shrug* Stay out of mah Austin.
Austin is bout to get burnt to the ground don't worry.
Austin is bout to get burnt to the ground don't worry.
The topic of illegal Mexican immigration is too complicated to pidgeon-hole it to descriptor words like "good" or "bad," in my opinion.
Austin is bout to get burnt to the ground don't worry.
Nah man, the closest fire we've had was in Cedar Park, and that was put out yesterday. The Steiner Ranch fire is going in the wrong direction. Sure, we're screwed, but I think the capital should be safe.

One south of me in Magnolia and one north of me near Huntsville.
Looks like the job growth is not a tumor.

We have been watching the economic status as well as the rate of unemployment. The fact that a lot of people out there are still unemployed is truly saddening. Nevertheless, in September 2012 private employers added more jobs than economists expected, according to a payroll industry jobs report. Here is the article: Private Jobs Report. Everyone is complaining about no jobs here in LA, the fact is there is TONS of work. People just do not want a shitty minimum wage job that makes you sweat and actually work. Majority of the jobs are through agencies or other third party job search. My cousin works for an agency and she has to get 700 people or more daily to work. Whenever she calls people they always have excused why not to work and only manage to get 30%-50% of the needed people.
Thread's from 2011, no need to bump it further.
