An aggressive Sony took E3 by storm last week, but says it was only ‘one good day’.
The result has been a huge increase in pre-orders.
Yet SCE UK boss Fergal Gara has played down the significance of winning E3, telling MCV that the company needs to keep its foot on the gas up to launch and beyond.
“Winning is determined by a much longer timescale,” he said. “We were very pleased with how our messages went down at E3. We aim to be the best for gamers, and this was a key step in that direction.
Looks like Sony are the best kind of winners
unlike Microsoft in the last gen
Basically, another PS3 and 360 scenario could happen. One console being hailed as the "winner" of the generation a few years in then the other console comes back into the spotlight with more games.

The issue this time being that the Xbox One also has worse hardware so is unlikely to handle the new games, equivalent to that that have made the PS3 popular now...
That's rather humbling.
if publishers force "always on" on sony (ie a scenario where EA or Activision wont put games on PS4 without online passes, used game restrictions, etc, a situation that is much more likely than you might expect) and they have to flip flop, it will be their end

It's not the games that's the problem here, it's the DRM. Unless Microsoft fix that it will be a whitewash all the way.

nah, publishers (typically) have WAY more money to make from making a game multiplat than they do making it exclusive for the sake of better graphics

What? The 360 had worse hardware than the PS3 and it still absolutely overtook the PS3 for the first few years. Why wouldn't the One handle new games? The 360 can run most everything you throw at it at a reasonable frame rate and graphic quality.
sounds like sony wants to 'ol' yeller' the xbone
im down
The 360 can run most everything you throw at it at a reasonable frame rate and graphic quality.
so can an atari 2600 what's your point
I may not be getting a console this time around but I can't help but applaud them for not getting cocky and taking their eye off the ball.

Nono, that's what I mean though. In later years the PS3 has done well due to having better hardware in general, it's hard to see the Xbox One gaining that advantage later on, due to being inferior hardware and seemingly starting with poor public opinion...

I think what he is trying to say is that the Xbone has literally no advantages and the PS4 has more powerful hardware (which it does).
In other words, just like the PS3 had to fight, the Xbone has to fight an uphill battle, but it doesn't even have better performance as a selling point to gamers or developers.
so can an atari 2600 what's your point
That the 360 can run newer games just fine and that it would be incredibly weird if the One couldn't run games 5 years from release well.
That the 360 can run newer games just fine and that it would be incredibly weird if the One couldn't run games 5 years from release well.
oh ok you worded your original post kind of oddly

Saying that means nothing. If the 360 couldn't run it, then it doesn't get released.

exactly. the difference of course is PS3 had difficult-to-design-for architecture which is no longer the case, but really non-exclusive games will still look essentially the same between the two platforms

lol it means that you wont see a game with better graphics on the PS4 if its multiplat, DURRR. how hard is this to understand?
"Its not over till we say its over"

Nah the one will be able to take it, it'll just have to run at lower graphic settings, it'll probably start to look like shit compared to the PS4 within 3 years when developers make engines that surpass the One's abilities, though cloud computing could save the day.
I think that microsoft thought sony would do the same thing with the DRM but sony had more time to see what went down and they quickly changed their plans and disabled that feature.

EA got rid of Online Passes.

for the time being. they still are pushing origin, trying to get more heavy drm (look at bf3), still trying to get rid of the used games market completely. they are just going to take a different approach.

what drm does bf3 have...
Just been reading this on Digital Spy:
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/news/a490850/xbox-one-price-defended-by-microsoft-were-over-delivering-value.html
(Basically, MS thinks the XBOne is worth $1000+ dollars for what it does. This sort of denial and unwillingness to change policies to reflect consumer attitudes is starting to look sociopathic now)
I'm not sure why everyone thinks Sony has won easily. MS will show off the Xbone on Oprah, and the viewers will buy that crap, most of them don't even know what a "internet" even is.
what drm does bf3 have...
Origin, and as of recently, nothing on consoles.
Origin, and as of recently, nothing on consoles.
Aww but I love Origin, it's no worse (probably better) as drm than Steam.

It couldn't even max Source 2007 @ 720p

I think our definition of "just fine" differs strongly.
