What? You have to pay a subscription it isn't a one time payment.
The power of the systems are about the same and developers will build so that both systems are equal because its easier to develop that way. Unless its an exclusive they will look and play the same.
If its a multi-platform game then the game will most likely be made with the Xbox Ones capabilities in mind. They might increase some graphical settings for the PS4 but ultimately those games will look very similar. Its just easier and more cost effective to do it that way. Both consoles are almost the same, the only difference is the RAM and the GPU. Is GDDR5 RAM really that much faster than DDR3 RAM, will it really make a huge difference? I mean the last generation of consoles did not even have 1 GB of RAM, while this generation will have 8.
I do not really see a point in looking at what console overpowers which in hardware, they are a huge increase in what the last generation was using. And games last generation still looked great with what little resources they had available in the systems.
Every gen, Nintendo is this Asian Buddhist monk sitting on the sidelines, not screaming its name or putting up a fight, just going with the flow, and allowing its console to sell itself by its own merit and by nintendo's good reputation. They know they built the videogame industry once, and they could do it again if they wanted to.
If Nintendo is a monk, then Sony is a Samurai and Microsoft is a confused American Tourist.
When people say Microsoft won the last generation, I hope they're talking about quantity rather than quality because the Playstation 3 has dozens upon dozens of amazing "must play" exclusives with the multi-platform while the Xbox has the multi-platform games... And Halo, Gears of War, Forza... Viva Pinata?
well yeah it was about quantity. Consoles are products, run by businesses. Corporations exist for profit. Microsoft made more profit from their console than Sony made from their respective console

and always online multiplayer game.
next gen is some bullshit, I want support for the consoles I already have

8+ years of support is too little?
From angry Joe's interview with Major Nelson they said most of the work (3/4) will be done with the cloud . . .
reminds me of Simcity but with a console.

wasnt optimized that great, honestly.
if you launch origin on offline mode it boots straight into singleplayer
buuuut u can believe whatever u want
Basically, another PS3 and 360 scenario could happen. One console being hailed as the "winner" of the generation a few years in then the other console comes back into the spotlight with more games.
Except the Xbox never even really had any good exclusives, and almost everything else is cross-platform to the PS4 or to the PC.
Sony is right, but they would have to be hit with a large change from Microsoft, and even then...

WELLLL you can do the same with steam and obviously it is possible to pirate steam games, that doesn't mean there is no DRM.

doesn't mean it's heavy drm either, it's nothing out of the ordinary and doesn't give any indications about EA's super evil DRM plans
Consoles have always had some kind of DRM (you can't even run your own unsigned code, for example), that's not so much an issue as long as it's possible for "anybody" to enter your platform with a reasonable barrier of entry (and Sony's developer program seems to be heading in that direction).
The Xbox One's DRM is just absurdly overbearing for the sole reason that Microsoft are pushing their "cloud" solution on developers probably because they're going to have to release a much weaker console due to a combination of issues not limited to just the poor yield on their chips.
Of course as graphical fidelity increases the PS4 will likely pull ahead unless Microsoft are able to deliver a better console, as well as increase the amount of RAM available to games (5 GB vs 7 GB is no small difference).

Actually... It lost in overall sales.
The PS3 already sold more units, second to the Wii.
