That's pretty cool. I imagine other bugs avoid that place
Seriously who would name their town, "Wagga Wagga"?
[sp]Yes I did read the op and title, Im just commenting on the name of the town itself[/sp]

I think it was the aboriginals, I'm not so sure.
imagine if there was a big wind all the sudden
and all the spiders fell on you
NO.
Edit: Jesus, no.
Further edit: Gah. . .CHRIST. NO. Fuck fucking NO.
What's with all these fucking spiders recently? Oh god. They're going to take over the world!
I don't mind spiders, except for their faces. The weird fang things and all those eyes... :tinfoil:
They should harvest all of the web and make something cool out of it. Maybe a prototype for a bulletproof vest or some shit? Spider web is really strong, I'd like to see all of this put to use.

plenty of places in australia have aboriginal names. in aboriginal language (theres actually like 500 of them but whatevs) the plural of the word is repeating it.
kinda like in the US some places have native american names like illinois
except australian aboriginal names sound dumb as fuck, like chattanoonga or wooloomooloo (these are actual names)
NONONONO
Burn it.
kill it with fire
do it now
Spiders are a very important part of ecosystems. I'm glad they used the evolutionary skills they have that have become preadaptations to be smart enough to survive natural disasters like floods. Otherwise Australia would be covered in bugs and small children.
Generally I'm an advocate of nuclear nonproliferation, but I think we're gonna have to go all out on this one. Sorry Australia.
I was born in Wagga Wagga :-)
FYI it's pronounced Wogga Wogga, because I figure pronouncing it like it looks would make the name seem even more odd than it already is
Imagine the dude that opened his front door, not paying attention, and walked straight into a giant net of it in his doorway.

Situated on the fabulous beaches of Gullah Gullah Island.
[sp]Please tell me I'm not the only one who gets this reference[/sp]
Knowing Australia, 85% of those spiders are probably deadly.
I get to the last picture and now I can't stop itching myself :suicide:
Someone get me my flamethrower.
I keep reading 'Wagga Wagga' as 'Wakka Wakka' and the funny ratings turn into Pacman

It already is, they're living in it...
What is it with facepunch and universally being so pussy towards spiders
most of them can't even hurt you
[editline]7th March 2012[/editline]

Because Aborigine guilt.
It means "Place of Many Crows", as the abbos from that region repeat a word to create a plural.

Arachnophobia is a very common and almost totally irrational fear. It's similar to most fears in that it's basically taught to you very early to fear things that quickly skitter across the floor and have little tiny dagger teeth.
I mean, even if most spiders aren't venomous these days, there's always that tiny little voice saying "what if that scratching noise I just heard is X", and that's exactly why people hate spiders; "what if it's actually venomous?" "what if it's a radioactive mutant capable of eating my face?" "what if I'm about to get killed by a gigantic spider?"
