life without the possibility of parole
I've said it five times now broheim
If you had any reading comprehension skills then you'd realize that I said life without the possibility of parole
http://deathpenaltyinfo.org/costs-death-penalty
what does that have to do with what I watch or spend my time doing
you make absolutely no sense
yeah, let's just murder murderers. that makes a whole lot of sense. and you're an idiot if you think allowing the government to murder its own citizens is right.
Looks like you don't believe in capital letters, either. :smugdog:
also, he chose the firing squad to demonstrate just how messed up Utah is. he did it to prove a point.
You're an idiot. He chose the method 25 years ago, before it was banned.
As you said, there is a slim possibility that they could be innocent, and while that possibility remains, no one should be executed.
Because we should totally let the minority ruin the whole thing for the majority.
If I were to be executed, I'd want to be shot. You couldn't get me to go into that lethal injection chamber consciously. I wouldn't die like that, not like a bitch.
every other advanced nation in the world has abolished the death penalty.
except the ones that aren't like four of the western european nations.
It's not like we're fucking nazis.
where did I say that
[editline]08:56PM[/editline]
You're an idiot. He chose the method 25 years ago, before it was banned.
source?
and it doesn't matter. it's still barbaric to allow that.
where did I say that
You're implying that the US government murders people.
If I were to get the death penalty, I would take either firing squad, hanging, or beheading.
[editline]12:57AM[/editline]
source?
re-read the OP
You're implying that the US government murders people.
it does
if you want to argue semantics then the US government executes/kills its own people
[editline]08:59PM[/editline]
re-read the OP
no where does it say he chose the firing squad 25 years ago
it says he chose it in APRIL.. this year.
Why would one gun have a blank?
Why would one gun have a blank?
so they won't know who really killed the person
And with those words, Utah officials expected they would soon be fielding calls from CNN and the international press. Utah's last firing squad execution 14 years ago attracted more than 150 news crews from across the globe. They were interested in one thing: the method of execution.
Lawmakers, upset by the media circus, voted to eliminate the firing squad as an option. The law, though, grandfathers in the five death row inmates who chose it prior to the ban.
Utah historian Will Bagley says the reason this method of execution has been so prominent in Utah's history goes back to the Mormon religion.

The law, though, grandfathers in the five death row inmates who chose it prior to the ban.
implies he was sentenced sometime before the ban
it's not when you choose it that matters
it does
if you want to argue semantics then the US government executes/kills its own people
You make it sound like they do it right out of the blue though. His peers found him guilty, and a judge sentenced him to death for his (rather heinous) crimes. Its not like China or the USSR or something where people were (and are) being executed publicly by their government for political crimes.
This is not to say, of course, that I support the death penalty. For the record, I don't.
You make it sound like they do it right out of the blue though.
no, I don't
His peers found him guilty, and a judge sentenced him to death for his (rather heinous) crimes.
people make mistakes
innocent people HAVE been executed
uh
why are you idiots calling him a badass
uh
why are you idiots calling him a badass
because they somehow think the government executing someone via firing squad is cool
someone threw trash on the ground?
"CUT HIS BALLS OFF"
this is a typical day on FP
innocent people HAVE been executed
Source please? I know they have, but I want to see the source myself.
I remember hearing about this.
What a bad-ass. :frogc00l:

Gardner was in court on a murder charge when he tried to escape. An accomplice slipped him a gun, and he shot and killed an attorney and also severely wounded Kirk's husband, Nick Kirk, who was a bailiff. Kirk didn't die, but he wasn't the same active, cheerful man anymore. His final years were marked by excruciating pain and depression from a sedentary life. His daughter, Tami Stewart, feels sorry for Gardner, but she can't forgive him. She imagines him in the death chamber.
Yeah, such a hero.
Because we should totally let the minority ruin the whole thing for the majority.
You're an idiot if that's your point of view.
The legal system in criminal law is based upon the principle that someone is guilty if proven "beyond reasonable doubt".
By admitting that there may be an innocent that has slipped through the cracks, that's saying that the court system is not infallible.
Why would you want an infallible system make decisions on who lives or dies?
We should totally do away with murder convictions, because the majority don't have them.
Because we should totally let the minority ruin the whole thing for the majority.
what is wrong with you
I'd rather let 1,000 guilty people be released than have one innocent person executed
Because we should totally let the minority ruin the whole thing for the majority.
ruin what
is this something that's fun to you?
A bullet is cheaper than a bunch of chemicals.
A bullet is cheaper than a bunch of chemicals.
if it's only the cost you are worrying about, feel free to do it yourself
no I don't
Yes, you do. "The US government murders its own people" 'The Nazi government murdered its own people". Both TECHNICALLY true, but both were done for different reasons, its a blanket statement that doesn't cover context, reason, or method of conviction.

people make mistakes
innocent people HAVE been executed
I'm sure people have died in jail or spent a good amount of their lives in jail despite being innocent. A Justice system based on fallible people is going to be fallible. If you can come up with one that ISN'T fallible, I'm sure the world would love to hear it.
what is wrong with you

What?! I hope you're just being dramatic..

What does this have to do with the fact that the PEOPLE found him guilty, not the government as you keep harping about?

Please tell me you just now did not notice that :geno:

there isn't one
which is another reason why the death penalty should be abolished, because once you kill someone then that's it. they can no longer appeal, etc.
[editline]09:34PM[/editline]
What?! I hope you're just being dramatic..
ok, I'd rather let 10 guilty people go than have one innocent person executed
